Walk-in-interview for following five (5) project positions in four (4) different projects tenable at the Department of Biotechnology, IIT Guwahati, for one year, which may be extended based on performance.

PROJECT 1: Fundamental Molecular Investigations in Biotechnology

Position: Research Scientist (ONE)

Minimum Qualification: Ph.D. (Rs 10000-325-15200 + HRA @15% + MA @ Rs 500) in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Bio-Engineering or MD in Medical Sciences. Those who have submitted their PhD thesis are also eligible to apply.

Age: Below 35 years

Job Description: The research scientist shall oversee the operation and maintenance of high end equipments such as MALDI/TOF, HPLC, CD spectrometer, Analytical ultracentrifuge, Surface plasmon resonance (SPR)-based spectroscope, etc. The scientist will also be responsible for training students and other users of the equipments as well as in assisting in data collection and data processing.

PROJECT 2: Molecular cloning and functional characterization of heavy metal stress specific phytochelatin synthase gene from Eichhornia crassipes

Position: Research Associate (ONE)

Qualification: Ph.D. (Rs 18,000 + 15% HRA + MA @ Rs 500) in Life Science, Plant Science or Biotechnology.

Knowledge of techniques of plant genetic engineering/molecular biology/tissue culture is desirable. Those who have submitted PhD thesis are also eligible.

PROJECT 3: Development and Evaluation of Transgenic Mungbean over Expressing AtNHX1 for Salt Tolerance

Position: Senior Research Fellow (ONE)

Minimum Qualification: M. Sc. (Rs 16,000 + HRA @15% + MA @ Rs 500) in Life Science, Plant Science or Biotechnology preferably with two years of relevant research experience. Knowledge of techniques of plant genetic engineering / molecular biology / tissue culture is desirable.

PROJECT 4: Development of transgenic cowpea for virus resistance using the tool of RNA interference (RNAi)

Position: Junior Research Fellow (ONE)

Minimum Qualification: M. Sc. (Rs 16,000 + HRA @10% + MA @ Rs 500) in Life Sciences, Plant Science or Biotechnology with minimum of 60% marks. Candidates having valid GATE score or NET qualification will be given preference.

Knowledge of techniques of plant genetic engineering / molecular biology / tissue culture is desirable.

Age: Below 30 years.

Position: Project Assistant (ONE)

Minimum Qualification: B.Sc. (Rs 5,000 consolidated) in any branch of Life Science with knowledge of tissue culture and hardening.
