Objective of the symposium

The objective of the symposium is to equip the undergraduate life science students with recent scientific and technological advancements in biotechnology and to provide oppurtunity for the students to interact with the industry experts.

Abstract submission

Electronic version of abstracts in English(limit 350 words) to be submitted through email to the address provided for correspondence in the MS word format.

· Abstract size:A4,Margins 2.5cm;single spacing;Font:Times New Roman(12 pts)

· Title of the paper:Centre, Captals,Bold,14 pts.

· Name(s) of Author(s)(Underline the author who will present the paper) , institution and email of the corresponding author,13 pts.

· Keywords:maximum five words

Registration details

The Registration fee for all participants is Rs.200/-. Participants can take photo copy of the format given if needed or it can be downloaded from our college website( www.kvcet.in). The registration fee should be paid only in the form of Demand Draft in favour of “The Principal, Karpaga vinayaga college of engineering and technology”, payable at Mamandur along with the registration form. Last date for receipt of registration form along with the DD by post is August 07, 2012. Notification of selected participants through Email on August10, 2012. Delegates can avail the transport facilities of the college.

About the Institution

The Karpaga Vinayaga College of Engineering and Technology was started in 2001 by Thiru. S. Regupathy, former Minister for Environment and Forest, Govt.of India and the Department of Biotechnology was initiated in 2002. He founded the College with the aim of providing quality education on par with universities worldwide at an affordable cost for the rural students. Our college is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. The college offers various undergraduate programmes in Engineering and Technology and Post graduate programmes in Biotechnology, Embeded Systems, Computer Science and Engineering, Power Electronics and Drives, Manufacturing Technology, Management Studies and Computer Applications. The college imparts moral, social and ethical values to produce competent engineers, technocrats and managers to play important roles in building a strong nation.

About the department

The Department of Biotechnology is armed with qualified and experienced faculty members with industrial and research background. More over the department is fully equipped with state-of-art laboratories in Biochemistry, Bioorganic Chemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Genetic Engineering, Bioinformatics, Immunology, Chemical Engineering, Bioprocess and Downstream Processing areas. Our students have secured University Ranks and Gold Medals in Anna University examinations. Besides academic excellence our students have obtained Gold Medals and Championships in Sports Events. The Department has received various funding from DBT, DIT,AICTE, ICMR, TNSCST etc.,
