Admission Notice for
Integrated MS-PhD in Biotechnology with
specialization in
Biomedical Genomics (August 2025 session)
Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to the Integrated MS-PhD
program at National Institute of Biomedical Genomics (NIBMG, Kalyani, West Bengal) for the
session starting in August 2025. The broad areas of research pursued at NIBMG are:
1. Biomedical Genomics and the functional implications in the context of:
A. Cancer
B. Infectious disease
C. Chronic disease
2. Computational Biology and Statistical Genomics

Minimum Eligibility: Indian nationals with minimum 55% aggregate marks (or an equivalent
grade point average) in bachelor’s degree in any branch of Biological Sciences are eligible to
apply. Students from the SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer), and PwD categories shall be given an
adequate relaxation as per rules. Students in the last year of their bachelor’s degree are also
eligible to apply, provided they can produce a proof of having secured the minimum aggregate
marks at the time of admission.
Selection procedure: Candidates applying for admission into our Integrated MS-Ph.D.
program-2025 would need to qualify one of these 2 exams (in the current year), according to
the screening cut-offs determined by NIBMG.
1) Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences
(JGEEBILS conducted by NCBS/TIFR): Exam held in December 2024 (GS-2025).
2) Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM)-2025 in Biotechnology (BT): Exam held in
February 2025.
Candidates who fulfil the minimum eligibility conditions and have appeared for any of the
above exams may apply online. Candidates will be shortlisted for interview if their scores in
JGEEBILS (December 2024) or JAM 2025 (BT) are higher than the cut-offs determined by the
NIBMG. Final selection will be based exclusively on the candidate’s Interview performance.
There shall be reservation of seats for students from the SC, ST, OBC and PwD and EWS
categories as per the orders of the Govt. of India in this regard.

other form of application will be accepted). Please indicate online whether you belong to a
reserved category or unreserved category.
APPLICATION FEES
Candidates should send Rs. 250/- (Rs. 100/- for SC/ST/EWS/PWD candidates) as
application fees to the bank account as mentioned below within 16-06-2025 (Monday)
before 5PM and keep the proof of transaction details with them.

The proof of payment (transaction receipt) should be uploaded as a part of the online
application.
• Online application will be accepted till 5 PM of 09-06-2025.
• Short-listed candidates will be called for a formal interview (List of Short-listed
candidates for interview shall be published on NIBMG website on 20-06-2025.
• First Round of Interviews will be held ONLINE on 01-07-2025 and 02-07-2025
from 10 AM onwards. (List of qualified candidates for second round interview shall be
published on NIBMG website by 04-07-2025).
• Second Round of Interviews will be held ONLINE on 07-07-2025 from 10 AM
onwards.
• Upon second round interview, a final list of all qualified candidates shall be published
on NIBMG website on 09-07-2025.
• Candidates selected will be required to join on 28-07-2025.
