Why a Ph.D. from RGCB?
RGCB prepares individuals who have a deep and genuine interest in discovery science to shape the translation of biotechnology through academic research towards applications for a knowledge economy, business development and science of tomorrow. Previous RGCB PhD's have all done impressive work and received excellent placements ( see list of PhDs passed out from RGCB ). Admission Procedure
External Candidates with Fellowships
Applications are invited twice a year (normally in November and June) and advertised in selected national newspapers and on the RGCB website. Vacancies that are available in different laboratories and interdisciplinary programs will be put up on the website.

Applications are invited from Postgraduates in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Agriculture, Medical, Veterinary and Chemical Sciences for our PhD program, currently affiliated to University of Kerala.
General category applicants must have First Class or above throughout, a valid Research Fellowship from UGC/CSIR/ICMR/DBT/DST-INSPIRE and should be less than 28 years of age as on January 1of 2013
SC/ST candidates with a valid fellowship need to have only 50% marks, will be eligible for age relaxation as per rules, and are exempt from processing fees.
Application Processing Fee
Applicants must enclose a crossed demand draft of Rs. 500 (Five Hundred only) as processing fee in favour of Director, Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram 695014. Applicants belonging to Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes are exempted from payment.
Completed applications along with the required fees may be submitted to the above address on or before December 31, 2012. Names of the candidates short listed for the selection interview will be put up on the RGCB site on January 4, 2013 and will also be notified by email. Selection of candidates for further interaction with prospective supervisors will be based on selection interview on January 28, 2013. This faculty interaction will be from January 29 to 31, 2013. Admission will be finalized on February 01, 3013. Selected candidates are expected to join on or before February 25, 2013.
