Course content
• Genomic DNA , RNA and Plasmid isolation,
• cDNA synthesis and gene amplification using PCR, Primer designing,
• DNA Barcoding and Phylogenetics
• Bioinformatic tools and their application in molecular Biology
• Genetic Engineering for abiotic stress tolerance in plants.
• Phytochemistry
• Biosafty measures and IPR in current context in research and development
• Basic techniques in microbial culture
• Isolation of rhizophere microorganisms
• Extraction and assay of some antioxidants from plants
• Mushroom cultivation
• Micropropagation of plants, etc
Mode of Selection: Selection will be made on the basis of DBT guidelines for STTC. Preference will be given to the reachers scholars & midcareer (age limit 45 yrs) scientists & teachers who are doing research works or teaching courses relevant to the proposed area of workshop.
TA /DA: There is no provision of TA/ DA for participants. However, 25% non-sponsored participants from public funded institutions may be provided with TA as per rule, if fund is available.
Boarding/ Lodging charges: Participants are required to pay Rs 3000/ as boarding fee (charges for food and dormitory accommodation) which after selection may be sent by D/D payble to Principal Karimganj College on or before 28th February 2013, failing which their candidature will be cancelled and seat may be allotted to other participants. However, the participants may have accommodation in hotels nearby (2 minutes walk) on payment of Rs 300 per day. In that case they would be required to pay Rs 1000 as advance along with the boarding fee against the expenditure for same. The remaining amount for hotel accomodation may be paid on arrival.
