Research Positions in Tomato Functional Genomics

At the Repository for Tomato Genomics Resources (RTGR), we are working on Tomato Functional Genomics, using TILLING, Insertional Mutagenesis, proteomics, metabolomics and transgenics approaches to study and manipulate fruit ripening in tomato.

The current aims of the group include using reverse and forward genetics strategies to isolate tomato mutants delayed in ripening, having high lycopene and folate content in tomato fruits and analysis of light and hormonal signal transduction pathways. For recent publications of the group see (Plant Physiol 161: 2085–2101, Plant Physiol 156: 1424-1438; Molecular Plant 3: 854-869; Plant Methods 6: 3; Plant Methods 5:18; Plant Signaling and Behavior 5:11; Nature 485:635-641; Molecular genetics and genomics 287:189-203; Molecular genetics and genomics 287:221-35).

Currently we have one project assistant position available in Dept. of Science and technology funded project entitled “Genetic manipulation of ripening-associated ERFs for the regulation of ripening in tomato” under the supervision of Dr. Rahul Kumar, RTGR, Dept. of Plant Sciences, School of Life Sciences, University of Hyderabad. The project assistant position would be offered a consolidated pay of Rs. 10,000/-pm. The qualification for this Research Position is as follows:

Project Assistant: M.Sc. Biotechnology/Life Sciences/ Biochemistry

Candidates interested in above position should send their CV, a statement clearly explaining how their skills are relevant to the position and the name/contact information for three references. The candidates can send their application by email at rahulpmb@gmail.com on or before August 7, 2013. Selected candidates would be called for interview.
