Applications are invited for appointment to the following posts in the Pay Band Scale of Rs. 15,600 – 39,100/- (Pay Band – 3) with Grade Pay of Rs. 6,000/- plus allowances as per University rules in the Centre for Research in Nanoscience & Nanotechnology (CRNN), C.U.
(a) Scientific Officer (Physical, Chemical, Biological Sciences) 04
(b) Scientific Officer (Engineering) 01
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS : For the posts at (a) : Uniformly good academic record with Master’s Degree in Science or Technology or a Bachelor’s Degree in Technology with a B.Sc. Honours Degree of this University or any other recognized University of repute.
For the posts at (b) : Uniformly good academic record with a B.E. / B. Tech. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics Engineering from a reputed University/Institute.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE : For the posts at (a) : at least 5 years’ of research experience in one or more of the following areas, as proven by publication in journals of repute :
- Nanoscale phenomenon and related measurements.
- Electron microscopy
- Semiconductor processing
- Nano-Bio materials
- Nono-Scale synthesis
- Hardware and Software for scientific computing
For the posts at (b) : at least 5 years’ experience in handling equipment specially gas handling, water treatment equipment, HVAC, UHV systems and Furnaces.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE : Working in Nanoscience / Nanotechnology laboratory in research environment.
AGE : Not below 30 years as on 01-01-2013
Stipulations in respect of qualifications, experience and age may be relaxed by the Syndicate, in cases of exceptionally brilliant candidate or candidates who have been working in the University System, on the recommendation of the relevant Standing Committee. The Standing Committee reserves the right to consider suitable persons who may not formally apply. Appointment will be made on probation for one year which may be waived or extended in exceptional cases and will be governed by the rules of the University as framed and/or to be framed/amended from time to time. Candidates already in employment should apply through proper channel.
Applications (7 copies) in prescribed form obtainable from the University Sales Counter at College Street Campus, Kolkata - 700 073, on University working days from 10.30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on payment of Rs.300/- in cash (Rs.75/- for SC/ST/PC candidates on submission of relevant documents issued by the Competent Authority) along with the synopsis, format given below, should reach the Office of the undersigned (Central Receiving Section, College Street Campus) not later than 13-08- 2013.
Applications without the duly filled in Synopsis will not be considered.
Applications in the prescribed proforma may also be downloaded from the University Website. Such applications, duly filled-in, and, duly attached with a Bank Demand Draft of Rs.300/- (Rs.75/- for SC / ST / PC candidates together with all the required documents) or US $ 20 drawn in favour of the Registrar, University of Calcutta, along with the synopsis, format given below, should reach the Office of the undersigned (Central Receiving Section, College Street Campus) not later than 13-08- 2013.
The Envelope containing Application should bear the Advertisement No. and the name of the Post.
The applicant must state on the top of the first page of the application Email address and Mobile Number to enable the University to contact them at short notice.
The persons who have already applied for the post against the Advt. No. Est/1514/39A dt. 27-01-2011 need not apply afresh. However, they may keep the information, if any, provided in their earlier application up-to-date.
