Intensive Training Course on Freshwater Phycology
21–25 October 2013
Gubbi Labs in association with University of Colorado at Boulder, USA and Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment will conduct a field and laboratory based five-day course on ‘Freshwater Phycology’ with main focus on diatoms, green algae and blue green algae.
This course is exclusively designed for highly motivated students/faculties from India and SAARC countries who are interested in current trends in phycology, algal bio-fuels, bioindicators and using diatoms in forensics. The course consists of lectures, field collection, laboratory, museum work and discussions covering taxonomic diversity of algae. The course will help the participants to gain and sharpen their skills in both traditional and modern aspects of algal taxonomy.
Course fee will be Rs 7500 for participants from universities/research institutions and Rs 10,000 for participants from industries. Course fee includes course materials, laboratory usage, working lunches, field expedition, and boarding and lodging during field expedition. Apply by 30 August 2013.
Participants will be notified of acceptance by 10 September 2013.
