Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Biological Sciences
The Department of Biological Sciences (DBS) at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research – Kolkata (IISER-Kolkata) is offering two postdoctoral fellowships in the broad area of Biological Sciences.
•Minimum Qualification: Individuals possessing a PhD degree (or those having recently submitted their doctoral theses) in any field related to Biology can apply.
•Duration: The fellowship will initially be for a period of one year and may be renewed based on the recommendation of the annual review committee.
•Fellowship: The IISER-K Post doctoral fellowship will be awarded as per the CSIR Guidelines along with a contingency of ₹ 20,000 per annum
•Application: All application material must be sent by email to dbs.postdoc.application@iiserkol.ac.in and must contain the following:
A)Statement of Purpose: The SOP must clearly indicate the current research interests of the candidate and future goals. The SOP must be 500 words or less.
B)Faculty Mentor: Candidates must identify a potential faculty mentor(s) with whom they will be primarily affiliated during their post-doctoral research (A list of faculty at DBS can be found at http://bio.iiserkol.ac.in/). Candidates wishing to work in inter-disciplinary areas can identify multiple faculty members of which at least one must belong to DBS. Candidates must note that every DBS faculty may NOT be open to having a post-doctoral researcher and are thus strongly advised to contact their potential mentors prior to sending in their application. The name(s) of the faculty mentor(s) should be mentioned in BOLD letters below the Statement of Purpose.
C)Synopsis of PhD thesis: 500 Words or less
D)Curriculum Vitae: Submitted CVs must minimally contain the following information: (a) Contact information (postal address, email, phone etc.); (b) Educational qualifications (degree, institute and grade); (c) Awards/honors; (d) List of publications (please include full citation details; papers that are under review MUST mention name of the journal); (e) Conference presentations; (f) Research/teaching experience; (g) Referee information (names and contact information of three referees). The CV may also contain any other information the candidate thinks relevant to the selection process.
E)Research Publications: PDF copies of up to three publications.
F)Reference Letters: Candidates must request two referees to send their confidential evaluations directly by email to dbs.postdoc.application@iiserkol.ac.in
•Selection Procedure: The Selection Committee will shortlist applicants based upon Departmental requirements and the Candidate’s qualifications. Shortlisted candidates will be called for a scientific presentation and interview. Outstation candidates called for interview will be paid III AC railway fare by the shortest route.
•Deadline: Deadline for receiving applications is 23rd SEPTEMBER 2013. The department reserves the right to extend the deadline. In all matters decision taken by IISER-Kolkata shall be final.
