Research Technician (Molecular Breeding)
ICRISAT seeks applications from Indian nationals for the post of Research Technician (Molecular Breeding) to be based at Patancheru, Andhra Pradesh, India., to be a part of Centre of Excellence Genomics (CEG) team, to work on MARS Inc (USA) sponsored project entitled “Improving short duration/drought tolerant peanut genotypes for oil quality and disease resistance through marker-assisted gene/QTL pyramiding approach”. The position will be based at ICRISAT’s Headquarters in Patancheru, near Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India.
Responsibilities:
- Execution of (i) breeding nurseries that include hybridization, (ii) field trials and (iii) seed production program under the supervision of the concerned scientist
- Coordination of day-to-day field research activities
- Experimental data collection, tabulation and statistical analysis
- Any other job that may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time
Competencies:
- Proficiency in English communication skills (both written and spoken)
- Proficiency in Computer skills (MS-Office)
- Should be a good team player and adaptable to working in multicultural team
Requirements:
- Graduate in biological sciences and/or Diploma in Agriculture
- 2-3 years’ experience required of practical work at a research institute, university or private sector Company
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work in field and lab conditions for extended hours
General: The position is initially for a three-year period, and may be extended depending on requirement, funding availability and performance of the incumbent. An attractive compensation will be paid to the right candidate.
