Applications are invited from research scholars of Life Sciences from Colleges/Universities/Institutes for a National Workshop on “Hands on Training on Techniques in Biotechnological Research” to be held during February 24-March 08, 2014 at North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong. The programme will include techniques used in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology such as nucleic acid based PCR and sequencing, Electrophoresis, Confocal microscopy, Flow cytometry, Cell and Tissue Culture, Bioinformatics tools in molecular biology and phylogenetics, and Data resources and retrieval. The participation fee for the workshop is Rs.3,000/-(Three thousand) which includes the workshop material and working lunch. The organizers will not be able to provide travel grant or waive the registration fee to the participants.
Accommodation shall be made available on request in NEHU Guest House on payment basis. The total number of participants would be limited to 20 only.
Shillong is well connected with Guwahati railway station and airport.
Buses, Tata Sumo and taxies (on reserve and share basis) are available from Guwahati railway station and airport and it takes about 3-4 hours to reach Shillong from Guwahati. The weather in Shillong during February-March is pleasant with temperatures ranging between 15-22°C. Woollens clothes are recommended.
