Scientific Officer (Chickpea Breeding)
ICRISAT seeks applications from Indian nationals for the position of Scientific Officer to be based at Patancheru, Andhra Pradesh, India. This is a nationally recruited position.
Responsibilities:
- Planning, designing and execution of field, greenhouse and laboratory experiments, crossing blocks and seed production under the supervision of the lead scientist.
- Management and coordination of day to day research activities.
- Supervision and training of technicians for data collection, and breeder seed production.
- Maintain and update electronic databases.
- Statistical analysis of experimental data.
- Assist the scientist in the preparation of technical reports.
- Any other responsibility that may be assigned by the scientist in furtherance of the cause of the institute.
Competencies:
- Proficiency in computer skills (MS Office) and statistical software.
- Excellent communication skills in English (both written and oral). Knowledge of local language (desired).
- Should be a good team player and adaptable to working in a multicultural team.
Requirements:
- Post-Graduate in Plant Breeding and Genetics from a reputed university.
- Experience required: minimum of 1-2 years of practical work at a research institute, university or private sector company.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Driver’s license (desired).
- Ability to work under field conditions for extended hours.
General:
The position is for three years, renewable based on the performance of the incumbent and the Institute's continuing need for the position. An attractive compensation is offered for the right candidate.

Research Associate (Chickpea Breeding)

Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support in conducting field and laboratory/greenhouse experiments in chickpea breeding.
- Collect and analyze experimental data.
- Assist scientists in the preparation of technical reports and research papers
- Work closely in team along with project partners.
Competencies:
- Analytical skills and ability to conduct, monitor and evaluate experimental trials;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English;
- Proficiency in the use of various software applications.
Requirements:
- PhD in Plant Breeding and Genetics from a reputed university.
