WORKSHOP ON STATISTICAL MODELLING IN ADDRESSING BIOLOGICAL PHENOMENA

Objectives :
Statistics is, or should be, about scientific investigation and how to do it better. It plays an important role in decision making under uncertainty. Nature and Biological phenomena are complex and uncertain. Statistics is one such science (having univariate and multivariate tools) that addresses/models phenomena under uncertainty. There is, in fact, a strong feeling of wide communication gaps between Statisticians and Applied Scientists. The workshop mooted is intended with a view to addressing some aspects of biological phenomena using Statistical tools, and to encouraging the young bio-scientists in forging ahead their research works. The workshop is also expected to reduce the communication gaps that prevail among the Applied Scientists and Statisticians and to improve scientific-and-mutual respect and trust what we have till date.
Resource Persons : Faculty members from host Institution and some other Universities / Institutions.
Target Participants: Young Teachers and Researchers of Life Sciences, Health Sciences and other allied disciplines of Colleges & Universities. Maximum of 25 participants will be selected for the workshop.
Workshop Charges : There is no charge for training or fees for registration in the workshop.
Procedure for Application : Application on plain paper giving bio-data (including Research / Teaching experience and area of Research, Publications etc.) duly forwarded through Research Supervisor / Principal / Head of the Department / Head of the Institute, should reach latest by 14/02/2014 by e-mail to the address bipin.gogoi@gmail.com or jitenhazarika@rediffmail.com
The selected participants will be communicated through e-mail on or before 20/02/2014. They have to submit hard copy of the filled in application with proper endorsement at the time of joining the workshop, otherwise their candidature will be cancelled.
Food and lodging : There is no provision of TA/DA for the participants due to insufficient fund. However, lunch and tea will be provided during the programme.
