A training programme on ‘Physiological and Molecular Approaches to Improve Drought Adaptation of Crops’ is being organized by the Department of Crop Physiology, UAS, Bangalore with financial assistance from ICAR under the Niche Area of Excellence programme. The training course is designed for teachers/scientists and will be for the period from 24 February to 10 March 2014. The main objective of the training is to provide theoretical exposure on basic mechanism of drought adaptive traits and their relevance in crop improvement for moisture stress tolerance and to provide hands-on training to analyse the drought adaptive mechanisms/traits at physiological and molecular level. Training will also bed imparted on approaches in molecular breeding and transgenic technologies.

Faculty/Scientists/Research Fellows, who wish to participate in the training programme, may submit their brief curriculum vitae including name, date of birth, sex, educational qualifications, experience, position held, postal, e-mail address and phone number and a brief write-up on motivation (half a page) to attend the training programme. Application sent through proper channel duly approved by the institution will be considered (attach the letter of approval with the application). Preference will be given to individuals below 45 years of age. Accommodation will be arranged for the participants on sharing basis for the period of training. No TA/DA will be provided to the participants attending the training programme.
