Fundamentals of animal cell culture and functional applications
Date: March 20 to 22, 2014
Institute of Bioinformatics (IOB) is a premier research centre for Genomics, Proteomics and Computational biology. IOB has established a state-of-the-art human cell culture facility that is being utilized to explore and validate the functional role of molecules in multiple cancer types. We also strive to identify novel therapeutic targets in a wide array of human diseases ranging from cancer, neurological disorders and infectious diseases. We have successfully conducted several workshops on high resolution mass spectrometry-based proteomics in the last six months. A number of faculties and students from reputed Research Institutes and Universities from India have benefited from IOB-Workshops.
Venue:Institute of Bioinformatics - Bangalore
About the workshop:
The workshop is being organized in cell culture facility of IOB, located in Bangalore in the International Tech Park (ITPB), Whitefield. This 3-dayworkshop will provide opportunity for each and every student to get an exposure to the field of cell biology. You have the opportunity to interact withthe finest and internationally renowned team of researchers, who uses proteomic, genomic and transcriptomic approaches to understand human proteome profiles in normal and disease conditionsto identify biomarkers and therapeutic targets. This discovery is validated by our researchers using in vivo cell line based experiments and other high throughput validation platforms like immunohistochemistry using tissue microarrays (TMAs).Students will be exposed to the basic concepts of sterility and animal cell culture. Alongside, we will teach them functional assays routinely carried at IOB, which includes proliferation, invasion, immunohistochemistry and more.
