The Institute invites applications for the following completely temporary positions for its Sikkim Unit. Qualified candidates may appear for a Walk in Interview on 18.06.2014 (11.00 AM) at the Office premises of the Sikkim Unit Campus-Pangthang Gangtok, East Sikkim 737101. Age Limit: Not exceeding 28 years (Sr. no. 1,2,3 & 4). Relaxation for SC/ST/Women/PH and OBC as per Govt. norms.
Position 1: Promoting conservation and sustainable utilization of Himalayan biodiversity elements using biotechnological and physiological approaches: Conventional approach in Sikkim Himalaya (Project 8)
1. Junior Research Fellow (01) @Rs 12,000/- (Fixed Per Month) + HRA as per Institute norms; @ Rs 16,000/- (Fixed Per Month) + HRA for NET qualified persons (as per norms)
First class Masters degree in Botany/ Plant sciences/ Botany/ Forestry/ Environmental Sciences Plant Biodiversity studies and working field experience in Himalaya Conventional propagation & maintenance/establishment of arboretum, nurseries; Plant population studies, etc in field/ organize training/ awareness on biodiversity conservation
Position 2: Promoting conservation and sustainable utilization of Himalayan biodiversity elements using biotechnological and physiological approaches (Project 8)
2. Junior Research Fellow (01) @Rs 12,000/- (Fixed Per Month) + HRA as per Institute norms; @ Rs 16,000/- (Fixed Per Month) + HRA for NET qualified persons (as per norms)
First class Masters degree in Botany/ Plant Sciences/ Environmental Sciences/Forestry/Plant Biotechnology
Preference will be given to candidates having experience of working in Himalayan region
To conduct survey and establish nursery at field sites. Plant propagation (by tissue culture & conventional methods) & field establishment.
Position 3: Promoting conservation and sustainable utilization of Himalayan biodiversity elements using biotechnological and physiological approaches: Ecophysiological responses of selected wild fruit tree species of Sikkim Himalaya to soil water content (Project 8)
3. Junior Research Fellow (01) @Rs 12,000/- (Fixed Per Month) + HRA as per Institute norms; @ Rs 16,000/- (Fixed Per Month) + HRA for NET qualified persons (as per norms)
First class Masters degree in Botany/ Plant Sciences/Environmental Sciences/Forestry/
Plant biotechnology
Preference will be given to candidates having research experience in the relevant field.
The work involves both field and laboratory based physiological, biochemical and growth studies.
Position: 4. “Preventing extinction and improving conservation status of threatened plants through application of biotechnological tools” (Project, sponsored by the Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India)
4. Junior Research Fellow (01)
Initially for one year, likely to extended for another 4 years based on performance of the
candidate.
