DBT-sponsored short term training course on ‘Plant Transgenic Technologies from 1 to 16 October 2014’

Applications are invited from the mid-career scientists/college and university teachers holding regular positions in universities/colleges/national labs/research institutes/in house R&D centres, and young researchers/research scholars (on recommendation of their supervisor) for a two-week DBT sponsored training course on ‘Plant Transgenic Technologies’ to be held from 1 to 16 October 2014 (14 working days).

The course is aimed to provide knowledge on current advances in transgenic technologies and a hands-on-training on plant tissue culture, generation, molecular characterization and applications of transgenic plants in Agriculture, Health and Industry, IPR and bio-safety issues, genomics and bioinformatics tools and techniques. The course will also include lecture cum demonstration sessions on Real Time- PCR, new generation genome sequencers, etc. The course will consist of 2–3 lectures every day followed by 4 hours duration practical/hands-on-training. There is no registration fee of the course. However, the participants have to bear lodging and boarding charges, i.e. Rs 5000 (includes breakfast, lunch, dinner and accommodation).
