Details of Advertisement No. 8/2014 for engagement of Chief Mentor and Junior Mentors in Innovation Hub of VITM, Bangalore :
1. Chief Mentor – (1 No.)
Qualification : Should have minimum PG degree in science or equivalent in engineering.
Ph.D. will be an advantage.
Experience : Good research/teaching/ industry background;
Passion for investigative/innovative projects/model making/design activities/ experimentation etc.;
Preference to retired professional.
Contractual Minimum one year duration extendable on mutually agreed terms subject to satisfactory performance.
Minimum 20 hours per week, mostly during Saturdays & Sundays and during holidays/ vacations, when member students/ members are available;
Will be required to spend additional hours with the students /members as and when required for the sake of progress of work/ projects;
Innovative/ investigative project identification;
Project guidance, mentioning, monitoring and helping the participants and members of the innovation hub in conducting experimental activities in the lab;
Coordination with other institutions/labs, whenever required, for conducting project related experiments/ data collection/information support etc.;
Guidance & preparation of project reports at regular intervals;
Coordination and assistance for parents and other IPR related activities;
Assistance in upgrading existing facilities/procurement of special equipment/materials for innovative activities/project work;
35,000/- per month
1. Junior Mentors (3 Nos)
Disciplines : Life Sciences/ Physical Sciences/ Robotics/ Computers/ Electronics/ Mechanics etc.
Qualification :
Should have minimum Bachelor’s degree in Science/Engineering with good aptitude for
hand on activities and good experimental skills;
Experience :
Good teaching/research/ industry background;
Passion for conducting investigative/innovative projects/model making/ design activities/ experimentation etc.
Preference to retired professional and persons having labs/practical/ industry experience.
Contractual Minimum one year extendable on mutual agreed terms subject to satisfactory performance;
Minimum 3 days in a week including Saturdays & Sundays and during holidays/ vacations when member students/ members are available;
Will be required to spend additional days with the students/ members as and when required for the sake of progress of work/ projects;
To assist the Chief Mentor; To guide and assist the students/ members in carrying out the innovative/ investigative projects in the innovation Hub;
To attend to the Innovation Hub/Labs on weekends and during holidays/ vacations when students/ members are available as and when required;
To manage the day to day activities of Innovation Hub;
Monitoring and preparation of progress reports and upkeep of instruments / gadgets used for Innovation Hub activities;
Coordination with other institutions/labs for conducting experiments, when required.
