Jawaharlal Nehru University has been granted funds by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India to initiate an Inter-School programme in JNU to strengthen training and research called "DBT-Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi-Interdisciplinary Life Science Programme for Advanced Research and education" with the broad project area entitled "From Molecules to Systems: Exploring biological space using chemical and synthetic biology" cutting across Physical, Chemical and Biological Sciences.

Applications0 are invited for One (01) purely temporary post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF). This is a unique opportunity to work in the interface of Chemistry and Biology with a group of faculties having diverse range of experience and expertise. The project is upto March 2017, but the appointments shall be made initially for a period of one year, renewable every year depending on the performance:

Project Sub-Title: Structure, function, and dynamics of biomolecules and molecular engineering.

1. Junior Research Fellow (JRF)- 01 Post

Qualifications:

M.Sc in Chemical sciences with specialization in Organic/Inorganic Chemistry or related fields. Candidates should be interested to work in the area of Organic/Inorganic Synthesis and at the interface of Chemistry and Biology. The selected candidate will be involved in synthesizing new generation of small molecule inhibitors which will be tested against malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparumin vitro culture, in vivo animal model and in mammalian cells. Knowledge of Cell/Molecular Biology is desirable. Candidates with NET (JRF/LS) and/or high GATE score and experience in the relevant field as discussed above will be given preference.

Applications are invited for the post of a Junior Research Fellow in a DST funded project entitled "Genomic approach to develop high density single nucleotide polymorphism markers in Bhut jolokia (Capsicum chinense) for mapping and identification of genes for economically important traits"

Qualification required: M.Sc in any branch of biological sciences with prior experience in transcriptome /gene expression analysis, molecular marker analysis / genotyping (SSRs/SNP), gene mapping, protein extraction, purification and 2D Gel electrophoresis. The candidate should be CSIR/UGC/NET qualified.

Fellowship amount : As per DST rules

Tenure: This position is completely temporary and co-terminus with the project (until July, 2017, the end of project). The candidate against the post will be selected depending upon qualification and experience and the selection committee reserves the right to relax any of the qualifications in case the candidate is found otherwise well qualified.

Position: Studentship/Technical Traineeship

Job requirements: It is mainly an scientific & office assistance job associated with scientific & administrative data entry/maintenance etc. to Research project management like computational and print documents filing/drafting/processing any relevant project papers or purchase papers, report writing, and human resources/ assets etc. updating. Mediating between project and university /school administration are included.

Minimum/essential qualifications: MCA /M.Sc in Science with computer knowledge in office applications, web designing and database management. At least one year Experience in administration of research project in academic institute/university including skill in communication.

Additional qualifications: Preferences will be given to the person having knowledge in Linux OS systems, Web designing and or experience in accounting/finance etc.

Consolidated salary: Rs. 12,000/- pm.
