Hands-on Training Workshop on DNA Barcoding & Phylogenetics of Plants
About the Workshop: We propose to organize a hands-on training workshop on DNA Barcoding & Phylogenetics of Plants at ARI, Pune. The workshop will be focused on training researchers and students in phylogenetic theory and the application of phylogenetic methods (e.g. NJ, UPGMA, MP, ML & Bayesian analysis) in taxonomy, systematics and evolutionary studies in plants. Hands-on training on various molecular biological methods like genomic DNA extraction from plants, PCR, etc. will also be given during the workshop. In addition, the workshop will also cover basics and applications of DNA Barcoding, Molecular Markers and Next Generation Sequencing. Hands-on training on construction of phylogenetic trees will be given to the participants. Recent trends in molecular taxonomy of plants would also be discussed.
