A Walk-In Assessment-cum-Interview will be held on 09/10/2017 at 10 a.m. for the position of Project Linked Person for extramural projects to be executed by the National Institute of Biomedical Genomics, Kalyani. Selected applicants will be appointed for a period of ONE year. The tenure of appointment may be extended depending on performance and availability of funds. 

Project Description: Applications are invited for the position of Project Assistant for a Department of Science & Technology funded grant to be executed at the National Institute of Biomedical Genomics, Kalyani for determining the nasopharyngeal colonization patterns in infants. This position is contractual and the candidate is required to perform both administrative and research work. The tenure of appointment will initially be for ONE year and may be extended depending on performance and availability of funds. 

Project Assistant (1) 

M.Sc. in any branch of Life Sciences/Microbiology/Biotechnology/ Biochemistry with minimum of 60% marks. 

Age limit is maximum 28 years on the date of interview) 

Hands on experience of techniques such as bacterial culture, DNA & RNA isolation, PCR, gel electrophoresis etc. 
Laboratory work, Organization, maintenance and associated administrative work. 
8,000/ per month Fixed (No other emolument is admissible as per rules)

Project Description: Tuberculosis (TB) is a major health concern. One-third of the world’s population is latently infected with M tuberculosis (Mtb); in immunocompetent host the risk of its reactivation is 5%-10% during their lifetime. However, in HIV-positive individuals this risk increases by 30-fold. TB in HIV-infected individuals can occur even when CD4+ T cells have recovered as a result of anti-retroviral therapy. This DHR-MoHFW funded project aims to understand the immunological and genomics factors responsible for TB disease in HIV-coinfection. The project is for 3-years and the position is initially for 1-year with possibility of extension depending on the performance. 

Project Assistant (01) 

First class (minimum 60% marks) M.Tech./ M.Sc. in Life Sciences/Biotechnology/ Genetics/ Biochemistry/ Microbiology / related disciplines 

Prior Research experience in form of Master thesis / Summer training etc. 

Performing cell culture experiments, flow cytometry, ELISA, Western blots etc. Gene expression assays using RNASeq, whole genome, exome sequencing etc. 

Data tabulation and maintenance, data analysis using statistical tests 

8000/ per month Fixed (No other emolument is admissible as per rules)
