About the Workshop:
Life science and information science are two major fronts of the
science advancement in the 21st Century. Biotechnology and
Bioinformatics play important roles in today’s scientific discovery.
Over the past decade, major advances in the field of biotechnology,
coupled with advances in bioinformatics tools e.g. Sequence
Analysis, Drug Discovery Technology, Next Generation Sequencing,
have led to an explosive growth in the biological information
generation by researcher.
Target Participants:
Interested young faculty, Scientists, Research Scholars, Postgraduate
students who intend to apply Bioinformatics approaches in their
research or wish to apply for attending this workshop. The number
of participants will be restricted to 30.
Objectives:
This workshop aims to provide a good platform for research scholars
and young scientists to understand the basic theory of Biotechnology
and Bioinformatics and its applications in the development of
country.
Nature of the Course:
The workshop will consist of expert lectures and hands-on practical
training in Biological Databases, Sequence Alignment, Sequence
Sequence Analysis, Phylogenetic Analysis and Proteomics. The
training will be techniques oriented and 80% of the time will be given
for the practical sessions.
Course content:
The laboratory manual will be made available to the participants at
the beginning of the training program. The manual will consists of
detailed protocols for laboratory exercises.
