Walk in Interview will be conducted for the purely temporary posts of 03 Junior Project
Fellows (JPFs) (02 with Zoology background and 01 with Botany Background) and 01 Field
Assistant, initially for one year but extendable maximum up to three years based on the
performance, in ZSI, Kolkata under the project entitled “Assessment of moths
(Lepidoptera) as significant pollinators in the Himalayan Ecosystem of North-East
India’’ funded by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of
India through National Mission of Himalayan Studies.
Interview will be held on May 01, 2018 at 11 AM at Zoological Survey of India, Head Qtrs.,
‘M’ Block, New Alipore, Kolkata- 700053, West Bengal, India
Job requirements:
Extensive field surveys are to be conducted in Himalayan region of three states of North
East India (Sikkim, West Bengal & Arunachal Pradesh) for the collection and study of
moths pollinating different floral components.
Recording of field observations on moths visiting different flowering plants.
Laboratory Work: Identification of moths and pollens. Dissections, Slide preparations and
photography of different moths and pollens.
Preparation of monthly, quarterly, half yearly and annual progress reports of the projects.
Place of Work: Zoological Survey of India, Kolkata with the liability of extensive and
long field surveys to the Himalayan region of three states of North East India (Sikkim,
West Bengal & Arunachal Pradesh).
Remuneration:
Junior Project Fellow (JPF) @ Rs.16, 000/- + HRA @ 24 % or Minimum HRA @
Rs.5,400/- for first two years and Rs.18,000/- + HRA @ 24% or Minimum HRA @
Rs.5,400/- for 3rd year
Field Assistants @ Rs.12, 000/- per month (consolidated)
Essential Qualification Desirable Experience for the posts:
1. Junior Project Fellows (JPF) (02)
Qualification: M. Sc. in Zoology/Life Sciences/or equivalent with a minimum of 60%
aggregate marks from a recognized University.
Desirable Experience: Experience/ knowledge/ interest on field data collection/
Bioinformatics/ Taxonomy/ Molecular Phylogeny/ Ecology/ GIS/ Climate change/
Computer and statistical analysis.
Age Limit: The upper age limit is 28 years as on 30th April, 2018. Age relaxation will be
as per Govt. of India rules.
2. Junior Project Fellows (JPF) (01)
Qualification: M. Sc. in Botany with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a
recognized University.
Desirable Experience: Experience/ knowledge/ interest on field data collection/
Bioinformatics/ Taxonomy/ Molecular Phylogeny/ Ecology/ GIS/ Climate change/
Computer and statistical analysis. Candidates having background of pollen related studies
will be preferred.
Age Limit: The upper age limit is 28 years as on 30th April, 2018. Age relaxation will
be as per Govt. of India rules.
3. Field Assistant (01)
Qualification: B.Sc. with Zoology as one of the subjects from a recognized university.
Desirable Experience: Field experience and knowledge of computer will be an added
advantage.
Age Limit: The upper age limit is 40 years as on 30th April, 2018. Age relaxation will be
as per Govt. of India rules.
