Science Academies’ Refresher Course in Insect Bio-resources and Human Welfare 

18–31 August 2018

A Refresher Course in Insect Bio-resources and Human Welfare will be held at St Xavier’s College, Palayamkottai 627 002, Tamil Nadu from 18 to 31 August 2018 for the benefit of faculty involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Participants in this course will gain hands-on experience with about 20 sessions in various entomological aspects. Similarly more than 30 sessions will be allotted for lectures. This course is sponsored by Indian Academy of Sciences, Bengaluru, Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi and The National Academy of Sciences, India, Allahabad. 

Refresher Courses in Insect Bio-resources and Human Welfare will be directed by Prof. P. K. Seth, FNA, FNASc, FAMS. It may be noted that UGC regulations include Refresher Courses in API scores for career advancement. Applications are invited from faculty members with experience in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Life Sciences/Agricultural Entomology. Motivated doctoral and post-doctoral research scholars in Life Science/Agricultural Sciences with keen interest in basic and applied aspects of entomology may also apply. The number of seats will be about 35. Selected participants will be provided with travel assistance (limited to three-tier AC train fare), accommodation and local hospitality during the course in addition to course material.

A copy of the application form signed by the applicant should also be sent by post to the Course Coordinator, at the address given below. In case of teachers, the form must also be signed and stamped by the Head of the applicant’s institution stating that leave will be sanctioned if the applicant is selected for the course. A recommendation letter from the Head of the Institution forwarded by the Head of the Department is essential for student applicants. Scanned copies of the duly signed documents sent by e-mail will also be accepted.
