Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Pune is a premier autonomous Institution established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, for the promotion of high-quality science education and research in the country. The Institute invites applications from Indian nationals having excellent academic record for the following positions purely on temporary and contractual basis under the funded project: 

Post-1 Research Associate 

Number of posts 01 

Name of the Project “Engineering and modification of bacterial toxins to combat chewing insect pests of Cotton” 

Project Code 008 

Minimum Educational Qualifications & Experience Ph.D. in any branch of Life Sciences. Candidates who have submitted thesis may also apply. Candidate must have at least one first author peer reviewed international publication from his/her PhD 

Experience: 

1. Agriculturally important insects, their rearing, dissections and bioassays 
2. Yeast two-hybrid, protein array, phage display or similar system 
3. Expression cloning, recombinant expression, purification of recombinant enzymes 
4. Protein activity assays 
5. Bioinformatics tools for protein analyses, statistical analyses like ANOVA, correlation, etc. 

Preference Candidates having experience with LC-MS based proteomics and Agrobacterium-mediated plant transformation will be preferred 

Tenure of the appointment Initially for a period of six months which may be extended further subject to satisfactory performance of the incumbent and continuation of the subject. 

Consolidated emoluments 1) Rs. 36,000 + 30% HRA per month. 2) Candidates who have submitted their thesis but not completed defense (i.e. candidates without provisional certificate of having qualified for the degree), will be designated as Senior Research Fellow (SRF) and paid Rs. 28,000 + 30% HRA till the time of submission of Provisional Ph.D. certificate. 

Age Not more than 35 years as on closing date of advertisement.

Minimum Educational Qualifications & Experience M.Sc. in any branch of Life Sciences or equivalent degree. Candidates awaiting the final semester results may also apply. 

Experience
1. Agriculturally important insects, their rearing, dissections and bioassays 
2. Basic plant molecular biology and biochemistry experimentation 
3. Gene cloning, recombinant expression and agroinfiltration 
4. Agrobacterium-mediated plant transformation 
5. HPLC and LC-MS based analyses 6. Statistical analyses like ANOVA, correlation, etc. 

Preference Candidates having at least one peer reviewed international publication will be preferred Tenure of the appointment Initially for a period of six months which may be extended further subject to satisfactory performance of the incumbent and continuation of the subject. 

Consolidated emoluments Rs. 16,000 + 30% HRA per month. 

Age Not more than 28 years as on closing date of advertisement.
