The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is a premier autonomous Institute under the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India, in the field of wildlife research, teaching and training. The Institute invites application from the Indian nationals for the Junior Technical Assistant (01 no.), Junior Research Fellows (04 nos.), Senior Research Fellow (01 no.), Junior/Senior Research Fellow (02 nos.), Project Fellow (01 no.), Project Fellow-GIS (01 no.), Project Fellow-Ecology/Genetics (03 no.), Project Associates/Senior Project Fellow (01 no.), GIS Analyst (01 no.), through a Qualifying test followed by Interview(s). Details of the positions along with essential and desirable qualifications, brief description of work are given in Annexure-1. 

Atlas of colonial nesting waterbirds in the east coast states of India 
Junior Technical Assistant 01 no. 1 year Rs. 16000 + HRA (as admissible) 
EQ: Bachelors’ Degree in any discipline with a minimum 60% aggregated marks and above from a recognized university. 
DQ: Good command over written and spoken English, Interest to carry out both desk based and field based research.
The study involves carrying out a survey for colonial nesting birds and heronries in coastal states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal. Assist the project team in day to day activities and functioning of the project both at Headquarters and in the field. 

Wild Tigers of Similipal: A study on spatial distribution abundance and population genetics 
Junior Research Fellow Or Senior Research Fellow 01 no. 3 year Rs. 25,000/- + HRA (as admissible) for JRF Rs. 28,000/- + HRA (as admissible) for SRF 
EQ: M.Sc. in Wildlife Science, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Life Science and other biological sciences with a minimum 60% aggregated marks and above from a recognized university and research experience of 2 years for the SRF post only. 
DQ: Preference will be given to candidate with prior experience of working on the subject, ability to work under harsh field conditions. 
The job involves extensive field work in the tough terrain of Similipal Tiger Reserve, Odisha. The research scholar is required to estimate abundane of large carnivores and their prey species. The study also involves assessment of genetic structure of the tiger population in Similipal. The research fellow is required to generate primary data for the project, analyse the data and write the report. 

Understanding the Amur falcon Falco amurensis, their stopover sites in Nagaland and their migratory routes for better conservation planning 
Junior Research Fellow 01 no. 1-2 years Rs. 25,000/- + HRA (as admissible) for JRF 
EQ: Masters’ Degree in Wildlife Science/Zoology/Botany/Life Science/ Biological Sciences/Environmental Sciences/ with a minimum 60% aggregated marks and above from a recognized university. 
DQ: Candidates with prior experience of working on birds, or have carried out field surveys involving population estimation and or ecological studies on other wildlife species. 
This study will involve carrying out extensive field surveys to identify and map Amur Falcon roost sites, and carry out a detailed examination of diet of the falcons. The diet of the Amur falcons will be determined by analysis of the regurgitated pellets and this will involve both field sampling and lab based work. The project assistant is expected to be highly motivated and have the ability to work in harsh environments that will involve trekking to different sites in mountainous terrain.

Department of Science and Technology (DST), sponsored - Dissemination and evaluation of technologies through networking of various institutes and organization of mountain ecosystem. 
Junior Research Fellow (JRF) 01 no. 2 years Rs. 25,000/- per month + + HRA (as admissible) 
EQ: M.Sc in Wildlife Sciences / Zoology / Life Sciences / Forestry/ Environmental Management/ social science or any other subject related to biodiversity and conservation with a minimum 60% aggregated marks and above from a recognized university. 
DQ: 
• Minimum one year research experience preferably in conducting socio-economic and research monitoring work. 
• Proficiency in using computers and good writing skill in English language. 
• UGC/CSIR NET JRF qualified. 
• Monitoring of livelihood intervention projects funded by DST'S TIME-SEED (Technology Intervention for Mountain Ecosystem: Livelihood Enhancement through Action Research & Networking) Programme. 
• Review past TIME and decide future TIME program with changing priorities and needs to mitigate rapidly degenerating mountain values. 
• Develop scientific strategies for livelihood interventions, which are locally developed and implemented with community participation. 

Senior Research Fellow (SRF) 01 no. 2 years Rs. 28,000/- per month + + HRA (as admissible) 
EQ: M.Sc in Wildlife Sciences / Zoology / Life Sciences / Forestry/ Environmental Management/ social sciences or any other subject related to biodiversity and conservation with a minimum 60% aggregated marks and above from a recognized university. 
DQ:

Human-wildlife conflict resolution mechanism in the Indian Himalayan Region: Risk assessment, Prediction, and Management through Research and Community engagement (NMHSHWC Project) 
Project Associate Or Senior Project Fellow 01 no. 1 year Rs. 40,000 +HRA (as admissible) Rs.18,000 + 20% HRA or Rs 25,000 + +HRA (as admissible for NET/GATE qualified candidates) for SPF 
EQ (Project Associate): Ph.D. in Wildlife Science /Zoology/ Environmental Science or Management or related subject Candidates who have submitted thesis and awaiting results are eligible for (provisional) Project Associate position. Or 
EQ (SPF): Post Graduate Degree with a minimum 60% aggregated marks and above from a recognized university in the above subjects with two years research experience. 
DQ: Experience of working in the Indian Himalayan Region, human-wildlife conflicts issues, Knowledge/ experience in abundance estimation, telemetry, socioeconomic/attitude/conflict surveys, and conflict resolution methods. Knowledge in the use of data analytical software relevant to wildlife sciences Undertake basic and applied oriented research in the Indian Himalayan Region (IHR) including working with local communities to address the challenges of human-wildlife conflicts. The headquarters for the above posts would be Wildlife Institute of India (WII), Dehradun and/or its various field locations in the States of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim and West Bengal (northern hill districts). The selected candidate would be liable to serve at any field location decided by the Institute as per functional needs.

Monitoring reintroduced Gaur (Bos gaurus gaurus) in Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, Madhya Pradesh Phase II

DQ: Field experience and knowledge about methods of field survey for wildlife and socio economic parameters, statistical analysis and GIS 
Fieldwork involves tracking GPS-collared gaur in Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve and analyze data to study their ecology. The student shall be encouraged register for Ph, D. Ecological impact assessment of existing and proposed road infrastructure in important wildlife corridors in India for strategic planning of smart green infrastructure 

Junior Research Fellow 02 nos. 1 year Rs. 25,000/- per month+ HRA (as admissible) 
EQ: Master’s degree in Wildlife Biology/ Zoology/ Forestry/ Environmental Science/ Life Sciences/ Natural resource management with a minimum 60% aggregated marks and above from a recognized university. 
DQ: Knowledge about methods of field survey for wildlife parameters, statistical analysis and GIS. The fellow would be required to conduct fieldwork and collect data in protected forest areas near roads, analyze data and produce assessment reports
