A walk-in Interview will be conducted for the purely temporary post of 01 (one) Junior
Project Fellows (JPF) with Zoology background up to March, 2019, at ZSI, Kolkata under the
project entitled “Studies on Family Philopotamidae (Insecta: Trichoptera): delimiting
species boundaries using morphology and DNA sequences from North Western
Himalaya’ (2016-2019) funded by SERB- DST, Government of India under SERB start-up Young Scientist Project.
Interview will be held on 3rd January, 2019 at 11 AM at Zoological Survey of India, Head
Qtrs., ‘M’ Block, New Alipore, Kolkata- 700053, West Bengal, India
Job requirements:
To collect adult caddis-flies belonging to family Philopotamidae through intensive
and extensive faunistic surveys of North Western Indian Himalaya.
To study taxonomy of various taxa of this family with the aid of different
morphological attributes and to formulate dichotomous keys for the same.
To prepare a checklist of this family and record ecological distribution pattern of
different species.
To describe new taxa, if any and record brief remarks on the inter-relationship
amongst different taxa on the basis of morphology and molecular tools.
Laboratory Work: Identification of adult caddisflies. Dissections, Slide
preparations and photography of different aspects of morphological studies.
Preparation of monthly, quarterly, half yearly and annual progress reports of the
projects.
Place of Work: Zoological Survey of India, Kolkata with the liability of extensive and
field surveys to the North Western Himalayan region (Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal
Pradesh & Uttarakhand).
Remuneration:
Junior Project Fellow (JPF) @ Rs.16, 000/- + HRA @ 24 % or Minimum HRA @
Rs.5,400/- .
Essential Qualification Desirable Experience for the posts:
1. Junior Project Fellows (JPF) (01)
Qualification: M. Sc. in Zoology/ Entomology/ Life Sciences/or equivalent with a
minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University.
Desirable Experience: Experience/ knowledge/ interest on field data collection/
Bioinformatics/ Taxonomy/ Molecular Phylogeny/ Ecology/ GIS/ Climate change/
Computer and statistical analysis.
Age Limit: The upper age limit is 28 years as on 1st January, 2019. Age relaxation will be
as per Govt. of India rules.
