Advertisement for Laboratory Animal Veterinarian (Full-time on Contract) at the Animal Experimentation facility at NABI National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI), Mohali, is an autonomous R&D Institute under Government of India, Department of Biotechnology. The institute is a state of the art facility in globally competitive and translatable research areas at the interface of agricultural biotechnology, food processing and nutritional sciences. NABI is in process of developing “Animal Experimentation Facility” to carry out small scale efficacy and safety rodent studies in the field of food and nutrition research. NABI is seeking Laboratory Animal Veterinarian (Full Time on Contract).It is envisioned that the Laboratory Animal Veterinarian will work with the NABI team to help in maintaining state of the art Animal Experimentation facility. 

Required Educational Qualification: 

 Master's Degree in Veterinary Science in any of the following disciplines viz, (Veterinary Pathology, Veterinary Microbiology, Veterinary Pharmacology, Veterinary Medicine or Veterinary Surgery) with valid Registration issued under IVC or 
 Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Science with 01 year of experience in managing Laboratory Animal facility in any Reputed Research Institute/Lab/company. 

Key responsibilities of the selected candidate will include: 

 LAV should develop protocols to ensure that the clinical and preventive health programs should be implemented effectively in the Animal Care Facility. 
 LAV should provide orientation to new students/animal users in proper use of Animal facility and explain the SOPs of Animal Care Facility. 
 LAV should be able to manage, coordinate and supervise the individual job duties of a team of animal facility care takers and housekeeping staff. 
 LAV should train the new students/animal users/animal care takers/support staff in proper care and humane handling of laboratory animals. 
 LAV should assist Facility in-Charge in the process of import and export of live laboratory animals, quarterly animal health monitoring programs (in SPF animal colonies), organizing animal ethics committee meetings and record keeping as per CPCSEA guidelines (GOI). 

Desirable Experience:- 

 Handling, breeding and maintenance of laboratory animals, particularly inbred strains. Preference will be given to applicants with experience with transgenic/knockout animals. 
 Research experience using laboratory animals is desirable. 
 Experience in health monitoring and genetic monitoring techniques. 
 Good Knowledge of CPCSEA guidelines. 

Age limit: 50 years (relaxation is admissible in case of SC/ST/OBC/women as per government of India instructions). 

Emoluments: Rs. 30,000/- per month. 

Engagement: This engagement will be initially for one year on purely temporary basis. The further extension of service will be on the basis of satisfactory performance duly forwarded by reporting officer before the completion of service each year. The updated CV/resume and a mandatory one-page cover letter must be submitted at the time of registration at NABI from 0900 hrs to 1000 hrs on 10th May, 2019. The candidates must ascertain their eligibility before applying, as ineligible candidates will not be interviewed.
