Salient features of the module

  • Each experiment would precede with a lecture, focusing on understanding of the principles, importance of individual reagent and trouble shooting at various steps.
  • The experiments would be conducted individually, thus helping  in building the student's confidence.
Registration:
  • The registration has to be done atleast 2 days prior to the training. A registration fees of Rs. 500 will be applicable per student.

Bacterial and Fungal Identification Techniques      
                          
Techniques covered:

  • Study of bacterial and fungal morphologies by staining
  • Biochemical Characterization of bacteria as per Bergey's manual
  • Slide culture of yeast an filamentous fungi
  • 16SrDNA PCR for bacterial identification
  • ITS PCR for fungal identification
  • Analysis of sequenced PCR products using BLAS 
Molecular Techniques in Plant Biotechnology

Techniques covered:

  • Genomic DNA extraction from plant tissues
  • Plant gene amplification by PCR
  • Agarose Gel Electrophoresis
  • RFLP of plant genomic DNA
  • Plant protein extraction and its analysis using SDS PAGE
