Background:
 
Office of Technology Transfer @ C-CAMP established with the support of the National Biopharma Mission has the mission to move innovations and discoveries from the laboratories to the marketplace for greater societal benefit. It intends to bridge the research community to the industry and start-ups through strategically evaluating, protecting and licensing its innovations.  The OTT’s aim is to sustain an ecosystem where both excellent science and entrepreneurship can complement each other and thrive. The following skills and abilities are necessary requirements for working at the OTT :

Core functions:
 
Licensing specialists and Innovation Manager will have the primary responsibility of forging linkages between the TTO and the industry and/ or Venture Capital.   Primary aim is to project the TTO’s capabilities and link the TTO to clients seeking IP protection and licensing support; to secure funding and incubating start-ups within the TTO incubator ecosystem and build technology transfer opportunities within the TTO’s operational base. Some research and/or business experience and familiarity with material transfer agreements or other contracts would be a plus, as would negotiation experience. fostering strategic relationships with entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and industry partners. 
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
 
Create Licensing and IP Management opportunities for the TTO
Work with inventors to determine technology milestones, timelines for moving technology into a commercial product.
Negotiate various agreements, including licenses or options for intellectual property rights, and manage ongoing relationships with licensees;
Help identify potential licensees and contacts within those companies.
Assess market opportunities and track market trends. Convert them to in-house R&D and licensing opportunities
Participate in outreach events to promote TTO
Additional duties as assigned.
Sensitize researchers and students to technology transfer and commercialization.
 
Education and Experience:
 
Bachelor’s degree from a reputed university in the biological sciences, or other science related field;
Management degree from a reputed Business School
At least two to four years’ technology licensing, business development, contract negotiation, or commercial assessment experience, including execution of varied business contracts;
Working knowledge of intellectual property law, intellectual property evaluation, and contracts. Experience working collaboratively with researchers or technical staff in intellectual property matters.

Facility Assistant – High throughput/High Content Screening (HCS) Facility C-CAMP/NCBS/inStem -- Bangalore Life Science Cluster (BLiSc)

Applications are open for the position of the facility assistant of the HCS facility at C-CAMP/NCBS/inStem, Bangalore.

The HCS Research Core Facility provides infrastructure and expertise for assay development, assay miniaturization, chemical and genetic screening (phenotypic cell based as well as target based screens). This includes expertise in cell culture, robotics platform, chemical and genetic libraries, high content imaging and data analysis. The facility develops and adapts various screening related methods to provide cutting-edge solutions for individual research projects.

The successful candidate will:

  • work full time in the the NCBS /inStem /CCAMP Screening Core Facility
  • be familiar in working with cell culture and transfection techniques

*   work under the facility head in supporting campus academic researchers with state-of-the-art assay development and screening solutions

*   assist the facility head in developing and implementing new techniques to keep the performance of the unit at the highest possible level

Responsibilities

*   Work closely with end users for miniaturising assays for screening platforms as well as provide other automation solution using the available robotics

*   Managing the day-to-day operations of the High throughput/High Content Screening core facility, including the cell culture lab, automated microscopes and robotics platform under the supervision of the facility head.

     *   Assist in training programs for students and trainees to learn hands-on assay development, miniaturisation, screening and analysis
     *   Perform routine QA/QC procedures on instruments and routine assays

     *   Ensure routine maintenance on instrumentation and servers
    *   Present work at  internal and external meetings

Qualifications

  • Masters in Science, or 4 year Bachelor in Technology / Science degree
  • Prior experience in working in a research environment, prior experience in handling cell culture
  • prior experience with assay development, assay miniaturization and automation is desirable
  • Experience using statistical packages, image analysis software, data visualization and coding skills is a plus

JOB TITLE: Facility In-charge, Electron Microscopy Facility

JOB PROFILE:

The Electron Microscopy facility at the Bangalore Life Science Cluster(BLiSc) has an opening for a Facility In-charge to manage the electron microscopy imaging equipment, associated peripherals located in the core facility.

The EM facility is equipped with one Tecnai G2 Spirit Bio-TWIN Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) and one Carl ZEISS, Gemini Scanning electron microscope (SEM).

The job responsibilities for the position include (1) Assure that the facility runs smoothly, efficiently and cost-effectively, (2) Manage the facility staff (3) Provide training to new users (students and other researchers of BLiSc, consultation, assist in sample preparation, data collection and data analysis on the TEM and SEM (4) Coordinate and document equipment usage and write and implement user policies, and (5) Prepare annual reports.

The candidate is expected to have Ph.D. or equivalent and at least 5 years of experience in biological electron microscopy data collection and structure determination, and have strong communication and teaching skills. Translation Scientists

Job Description:

The selected candidates are required to assist with the selection of research projects, carry-out the R&D work for advancing the selected projects into industry-ready life-science innovations, and assist with their subsequent commercial transfer.

The ‘Applicant’:

  • Must have a keen interest in developing useful innovations with application in Life-sciences
  • Should have in-depth knowledge of his/her field and could utilize this knowledge for ‘Designing, Developing, Carrying-out and Supervising’ research projects and protocols
  • Should be open to working on innovations in all areas of Life-sciences and not be limited to just their area of expertise
  • Should be able to ‘Take-on’ projects and also demonstrate ‘Project leading’ capabilities
  • Should understand the process of ‘Research Translation’ in Life-sciences, including the roles of different individuals/professionals in developing deep science-based commercial innovations (from the scientific side to IP/Patenting & Licensing side)
    • Able to collaborate with and complement a larger team of professionals, working on different thematic areas, and collectively advance the development of Life-science innovations

Licensing and Business Development Manager/Tech-Transfer Specialist

Job Description:

The selected candidate will be joining a ‘Research Translation and Commercialization Program’, working alongside an extensive team of professionals, and will be principally tasked with ‘IP Management’ & enabling successful ‘Commercial Transfer’ of in-house developed technologies.

The selected candidate:

  • Will interface extensively with industry
    • For identifying technology transfer focal points
    • For understanding the technology transfer needs and opportunities within the industry
    • For licensing negotiations and enabling successful technology transfer of the developed technology
  • Will serve as a local expert on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in the team & Will assist with drafting, executing, and managing various agreements
  • Will build a network of relevant stakeholders, especially the regional entities, to assist with the transfer & commercialization of developed technologies
  • Will facilitate with IP/Patentability analysis of innovations under development/to be selected for development by the program
  • Will continuously access the commercial/market potential of innovations developed/under development
    • Will carry out Technology Readiness Level (TRL)-based assessments of technologies being developed with a clear focus on ‘Commercial-readiness’
  • Will coordinate with the entire team and help with IP prioritization, securing & managing IP Rights, and developing and executing the commercialization strategy
  • Will assist with developing technology transfer pilots/processes & the commercial outreach
  • Will research, employ, and share the best practices within the domains of technology transfer and commercialization, entrepreneurial start-ups, product development, and private and public investment

Minimal Qualification Required:

Program Manager

Job Description:

The position will report to and work with Programme Director, DIA to help with:

  • Managing the program and various activities/events associated with the program
    • Coordinating with different teams involved in the program including scientific,business, and IP-team
  • Help with Program’s strategic directions for both short term as well as long term goals
  • Managing the outreach for the program
  • Handling budgets and operating plans for the program
  • Writing project reports and future program funding proposals

Minimal Qualification Required:

  • A Ph.D. in life-sciences or allied sciences Or an MBA with a Master or Bachelor in life-sciences or allied sciences

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of industry or equivalent experience would be preferred (though we are open to talented and motivated freshers as well)
