The Wildlife Institute of India, Dehra Dun invites application for engagement of the
following Project Personnel in the Project “Development of Landscape Management Plan
for the SECURE Himalaya Landscapes in Uttarakhand” purely on contractual basis for a
period of 6 months.
The project “Securing livelihoods, conservation, sustainable use and restoration of high
range Himalayan ecosystems” commonly known as the “SECURE Himalaya Project”
proposes a paradigm shift from the current conservation practices to demonstrate a new
approach of landscape-based conservation in select regions of the Indian Himalayan Region
(IHR). To achieve the salient project objectives for the two identified SECURE Landscapes in
the state of Uttarakhand (i.e. the Gangotri-Govind and the Darma-Byans-Chaudans
landscape), several different project components were formulated, and were carried out in
a largely independent capacity by independent agencies. The project aims to develop a
participatory, landscape-level management plan for the SECURE Landscapes of Uttarakhand
by consolidating the findings and recommendations of inter-dependent and mutually nonexclusive reports of these agencies
