Position of DST-funded Project JRF at IBAB

Project Title: Discovery and validation of new epigenetic pathways in the malaria parasite as targets for drug design

Project Description: Applications are invited for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in a DST SERB-funded project in the Molecular Parasitology lab at IBAB, Bengaluru. The successful candidate(s) will work on identification of novel modes of DNA epigenetic regulation in the lethal malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum. The project will use a combination of molecular biology, biochemical, cell biological, NGS and bioinformatics techniques. While training will be provided, candidates with relevant hands-on experience will be preferred. The selected candidate can avail on-campus accommodation at IBAB.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Master’s degree (M.Sc. OR equivalent) in Life Sciences/ Biochemistry/ Molecular Biology/ Biotechnology/ Zoology/ Genetics or related subjects with at least 60% of marks or 6 CGPA from a recognized university.
  2. Successfully cleared CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship), GATE or other National level exams conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies as well as Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER etc.
  3. Strong aptitude for laboratory work; should be detail-oriented and organised with the ability to prioritise.
  4. Ability to carry out maintenance of general laboratory equipment and resources.
  5. Basic IT skills that include familiarity with Microsoft Office packages and statistical data analyses; experience with programming and NGS analysis will be an added plus.
  6. Hands-on experience in basic molecular biology techniques, maintenance of cell lines and transfection procedures, microscopy, spectrophotometry, protein purification and/or analytical methods such as HPLC.
  7. Willingness to learn, and should be a team player.

Remuneration: As per DST norms, Rs 31000 per month plus HRA as admissible

Advertisement for Research Assistant position at IBAB

Applications are invited for the position of Research Assistant in the Synthetic Biology group at IBAB, Bengaluru. The successful candidate will participate in an interdisciplinary collaborative research project aimed at engineering promoters for gene expression using computational approaches including artificial intelligence and machine learning. The selected candidate will receive training in the relevant areas. The position is available initially for a period of 6 months and is extendable till project funding is available.

Essential Qualifications, Experiences and Skills:

  1. B.E/B.Tech/Master’s degree in Bioinformatics or related subjects from a recognized university with a good academic record.
  2. A minimum of 6 month experience in computer programming and data analyses.
  3. Good organisational and prioritisation skills, ability to maintain accurate records, team player and willingness to learn.
Desirable Experiences and Skills:
Experience in gene expression data analyses.

Project Assistant position available

Institution :Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology, Bangalore
Discipline :Policy research
Minimum qualification :A Bachelor’s degree in any subject, with knowledge of databases, programming and web development. The successful candidate will be conversant with programming and web scraping using Python, statistical analysis using R, database server management using SQL, website design using html/CSS, and contemporary frameworks.

Research positions in Synthetic Biology group at IBAB

Applications are invited for research positions (Project Assistant (PA)/Junior Research Fellow (JRF)/Postdoctoral fellow (PDF)) in Synthetic Biology group at the Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology (IBAB), Bengaluru. Projects are available in the following areas:

  1. Functional genomics of host-virus interactions
  2. Promoter engineering and Gene expression systems
  3. Metabolic engineering and Flux analyses
  4. Protein biochemistry and Structural biology

The position will be offered initially for 6 months and extended based on performance and satisfactory progress until the project funding is available. Meritorious candidates may be considered for PhD program based on suitability. Hostel facility within the campus is available upon request.

Project Assistant

Junior Research Fellow:

Post-Doctoral Fellow:
