Azim Premji University seeks a Senior Research Fellow to join a research project at the School of Arts & Sciences, Azim Premji University titled ‘Investigating the role of physical forces during Hydra regeneration’.

This Project is funded by the Core Research Grant of the Science and Engineering Research Board.

Project Description:

The research fellow will work on studying early pattern formation in Hydra vulgaris by studying effective physical forces emerging from the interaction of molecular players such as cytoskeletal proteins, and morphogen signals. The project has come out of a close interdisciplinary collaboration between biology and physics.

The research fellow will work in a multi-disciplinary area, making quantitative measurements using different techniques including microscopy, cell-based assays and molecular biology. The research fellow may also be involved in computational modelling of this system.

Duration of the Project:

The selected candidate will be appointed initially for one year which may be extended based on progress and candidate performance.

Eligibility criteria:
  • Candidates who have an M.Sc/B.E./BTech and at least two years of post-qualification experience
  • Research experience with a strong interest in working on a project that combines theory and experiment are invited to apply
  • Wet lab experience is required, and basic programming skills are desirable
