RECRUITMENT FOR VARIOUS CONTRACTUAL POSITIONS
AT REGIONAL CENTRE FOR BIOTECHNOLOGY, FARIDABAD
Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB) is an institution of national importance and statutory body
established by the Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India with regional and global partnerships synergizing
with the programmes of UNESCO as a Category II Centre. The primary focus of RCB is to provide world class
education, training and conduct innovative research at the interface of multiple disciplines to create high quality
human resource in disciplinary and interdisciplinary areas of biotechnology in a globally competitive research
milieu.
RCB invites applications (in online mode) from dynamic, result-oriented and dedicated eligible candidates
for various contractual positions under the following projects:
1. Indian Biological Data Centre (IBDC) Phase-1
RCB, with support from the Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India, is setting up the Indian Biological
Data Centre (IBDC) for storage and distribution of biological data at RCB.
The present duration of project is up to 12.03.2022, may be extended.

Essential Requirement:
PhD with minimum of nine (09) years
of experience, or MTech in CS/IT/
E&C/Bioinformatics/Computational
Biology/Data Science with minimum
of twelve (12) years of experience, in
an academic setting/industry in the
area of bioinformatics/ computational
biology/data science, out of which 3
years must be in scientific/technical,
program/ project leadership role.
Lead various sub-groups of
IBDC on international
standard database
development or application
development related to
analysis of biological data.
Development of machine
learning based data analytics
or implementation of leading
open source applications for
high throughput analysis of
biological data on CPU/GPU
clusters and cloud.

database technologies, HPC and
parallel computing, cloud computing

Supervise and lead the
software developers and
work in close coordination
with domain experts for
database design, application/
portal development, and
development of APIs etc. for
various biological databases
to be developed at IBDC.
Interact closely with groups
managing hardware/OS of
IBDC computing resources

Act as domain expert and
lead person for training and
supervising the curators of
various databases/resources
of IBDC related to his/her
area of domain expertise.
Design metadata, database
schema in coordination with
Database Managers.
Design the portal for data
submission, interact with
researchers for data
collection and help them in
high throughput data analysis

2) BSC BioNEST Bio-Incubator (BBB)
RCB, in association with Biotechnology Industrial Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), a Govt. of India
Enterprise, has established a Bio-Incubator to manage and nurture technology development in the broad area
of biopharmaceuticals.
The present duration of project is up to 06.01.2022, may be extended.

Essential Requirement:
A first class graduate in
Life Sciences.
Relevant hands-on
experience and having
thorough knowledge of
minimum of 3 years of
scientific and technical
equipment used in highend biomedical science
labs in a reputed
scientific organization.
Desirable:
A higher qualification.
Validate methods and equipment as per
the SOPs for the various technical
processes.
Carry out testing of samples as per the
SOPs.
Maintain equipment in a qualified state
and provide technical services to the user
scientists.
Coordinate with the infrastructure team
and other members of the facility
management services to ensure smooth
running of the facility.
Troubleshoot problems with instruments
and methods.
Help user scientists in data acquisitions.

3) DBT-HRD Project and Management Unit (PMU) The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India has entrusted the Regional Centre for
Biotechnology (RCB) for the management of the following key human resource development programmes
through DBT-HRD Project & Management Unit (DBT HRD PMU):

2. DBT PG Teaching Program
3. DBT Ramalingaswami Re-entry Fellowship (RRF) Program

First class Post-Graduate
