Contractual Engagement of 52 Project Personnel for River Dolphin project at 
the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun 

The Wildlife Institute of India (WII), Dehradun is a premier national autonomous Institute of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India in the field of teaching, training and research in the area of wildlife conservation and Protected Area management. The Institute wishes to advertise for contractual engagement of manpower for various positions for the following: 

Range wide population estimation of River dolphins in India: Ganges River dolphin is an indicator of river quality, not only for the river ecosystem integrity but also for the sustenance of humans. To keep our river system healthy, we need to conserve dolphins and monitor it as indicator of river health. The project is funded by CAMPA, MoEFCC. 

The initial period of recruitment will be for 6 months which may be extended depending on the candidate’s performance and the project needs. The work description, essential and desirable qualifications, age (as on date of advertisement) and monthly emoluments for the required position are given below(A-B): 

EQ-DQ for recruitment under the “Range wide population estimation of River dolphins in India” (Project_dolphin/WII/QQ/2021-2) 

Project Associate (40 position) 

Work Description Candidate will carry out enumeration of Ganges and Indus River dolphins in India and will monitor the status of associated aquatic biodiversity in Ganga and Brahmaputra River systems under the supervision of Project Scientist and Investigators. 

Essential Qualification (EQ) M.Sc. in Biological Sciences /Wildlife / Fisheries/Forestry/ Environment/ Botany/ Zoology/ Geoinformatics / Biodiversity Conservation or any Life Sciences Or Bachelors degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent 3 

Desirable Qualification (DQ) Aptitude for field work. Experience of working on in aquatic ecosystem. Experience of working in MS Office, good oral and written communication skills. 

Emoluments* 31,000 plus other emoluments as applicable 

Age 35 years 

Duration 6 months

Project Assistant (12 position)

Essential Qualification (EQ) B.Sc. in Biological Sciences /Wildlife / Fisheries/Forestry/ Environment/ Botany/ Zoology/ Geoinformatics / Genetics/ Biodiversity Conservation / Enginering/ Technology/ any life sciences (or ) 3 years Diploma in Engineering & Technology *Institute shall provide Medical and Accidental Insurance Cover.
