The broad objectives of the Ph.D. programs are: to keep pace with the expanding frontiers of knowledge and to provide research training relevant to the present social and economic objectives of the country. The award of Ph.D. degree shall be in recognition of high academic achievements, independent research and application of knowledge to the solution of social, managerial, technical and scientific problems. Creative and productive inquiry shall be the basic concept underlying the research work. The academic program leading to the Ph.D. degree is broad-based. It involves specified course work and credit requirements for different programs, publications and a research thesis. The thesis shall be the report of research work characterized by either discovery of new facts or a new interpretation of known facts and theory, or an independent design and development, or development of new instrument/technology. The degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) of the Bennett University shall be conferred on a scholar who fulfill all the requirements specified in Ph.D. Ordinances and Regulations. Ph.D. Program Details
In line with philosophy of being a research and innovation driven University, Bennett University’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS), is offering Ph.D. programs in Engineering, Technology and Applied Sciences. Ph.D. programs for Spring Session 2018 shall be available in the specializations Computer Science Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Biotechnology and Mathematics. Scholars are required to take up intensive research work under the guidance of a supervisor on a specific problem, for a minimum duration of three years. They are also required to undertake advanced level course work as required in the Ph.D. rules. The research work is expected to result in new findings contributing to the knowledge in the chosen field. Doctoral research program gives an opportunity to scholars to demonstrate their analytical, innovative and independent thinking, leading to creativity and application of knowledge. Scholars are required to deliver seminars on their research progress regularly and publish their work. Finally, they shall be required to submit the thesis embodying their research findings for the award of the Ph.D. degree.
The School of Law, Bennett University will commence its Ph.D. programme from 2019. The main objective of the Ph.D. programme is to equip the Ph.D. scholars with skills necessary to pursue research in the front-line areas of law and social science and science subjects that have an interface with law like history, sociology, economics and political science, science, technology, medicine among others. It aims at creating an inspiring, supportive and interdisciplinary research environment. Critical reflection, multidisciplinary approach and exchange of ideas and experience of all researchers would be the desired outcomes of the PhD programme. Scholars would be required to complete the coursework, deliver seminars on their research progress and publish crucial components of their ongoing work. On completion of the mandated stages of the programme and based on the final submission of thesis/valuation and Viva the degree will be conferred by the University in Law or in Interdisciplinary work in Law based on the subject.
The School of Management, Bennett University is commencing its Ph.D. programme from 2020.
