Narayana Nethralaya Cell Biology/Biochemistry Project Openings

Requirement for Research Fellow and Post-doc

 

Applications are invited from interested candidates for immediate requirement to work as a Research Fellow and a Post-doc under a Velux Stiftung (Swiss grant) funded project “Investigate resveratrol as a non-invasive therapeutic option in mitigating keratoconus.” The positions are purely on a temporary basis with the possibility for further extension

 

Name of the post: Research Fellow

 

Number of positions:1

 

Duration:Two years.

 

Qualifications: M.Sc. in Biological Sciences/Life Sciences/Bio medical Science/ M.Tech Biotechnology with 2 years of prior research laboratory experience. NET/GATE qualified preferred. 

 

Experience: Candidates with prior laboratory experience in one or more of the following techniques is mandatory:

  • Mammalian primary and stable cell culture, transfection, aseptic techniques
  • Molecular biology techniques including cloning, PCR, QPCR, etc.
  • Biochemistry techniques including protein isolation, immunoblotting, tissue staining techniques and microscopy.
  • Some knowledge about pharmacological assays needed for new formulations.
  • Previous experience with animal handling and animal tissue experiments is preferred.

 

The role: The post holders will be primarily responsible to perform cell culture techniques, protein and gene expression studies. The candidate should be acquainted with gain and loss of function studies using plasmids or pharmacological blocker/activators. Clinical sample processing and their bio-banking and participate in all the laboratory activities. The post may require some travelling when required for experiments to be performed at core facilities.

 

Other selection criteria:

- A team player with excellent communication skills, including the ability to write scientific text and present data

- Experience of working in a research team and contributing ideas for new research projects.
