About Institution:
Agri Biotech Foundation (Formerly Andhra Pradesh-Netherlands Biotechnology Programme) is an autonomous interdisciplinary research institute engaged in Agricultural Research, Extension, Human Resource Development and Public Advocacy. The Foundation has been recognized as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) by Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi. ABF works closely with India's premier research organizations like Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Department of Science and Technology (DST), Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and also National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).
Aim and Scope:
This course mainly aims at stimulating interest in life sciences among young students, so that they are motivated to take this field as their career option in future. This course will include limited lecture classes and wide exposure to research philosophical methodology and hands on experience in handling experimental material, instruments and soft wares. Each student will be given a project to work independently under the supervision of ABF research staff. On successful completion of training programme certificate will be issued.
Course content:
Course will cover orientation lectures along with hands-on experience in a variety of Microbial and Plant molecular techniques like Bacterial culture techniques, gene cloning, plant transformation, genomic DNA isolation and transgene detection, Molecular Markers, QTL mapping and Introduction to CRISPR/Cas technology.
Eligibility:
Final year and pre-final year Undergraduate (B.Sc/ B.Tech) students specialized in Life sciences (Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/ Microbiology/ Botany/ Zoology). Limited seats for PG students.
