ICMR-National Institute of Virology invites applications for Ph.D. Programme of 2022-23 from the eligible candidates who are bonafide Indian citizens and having consistently good academic record. Candidates should have a strong motivation to pursue research in virology leading to a Ph.D. degree. Students with a post graduate degree (as per UGC Minimum Standards and Procedures for Award of M. Phil and Ph.D. Degrees Regulations, 2016) and having valid fellowship from UGC /CSIR/ DBT/ ICMR/ DST-INSPIRE/ BINC/ Teacher fellowship are eligible to apply. 

ELIGIBILITY FOR ICMR-NIV Ph.D. PROGRAMME:- 

1. The candidate should have a Postgraduate degree in any branch of Life Sciences/ Biotechnology/ Bioinformatics/Health Sciences with at least 55% or equivalent Grade Point Average (GPA). Students belonging to reserved category will be eligible for 5% relaxation. 
2. The candidates should have a valid Junior Research Fellowship from CSIR/ UGC/ ICMR/ DBT/ BINC/ DST-INSPIRE fellowship or Teacher fellowship. Candidates who have qualified GATE, or are selected in the categories of Lectureship in CSIR-UGC (NET), DBT- Category II and JRF under research schemes of ICMR are not eligible. ICMR-NIV does not take any responsibility to provide financial assistance to the candidates. 
3. The terms and conditions of the fellowship will be as per the norms of the respective funding agency. 4. Reservation policy will be followed as per the rules stipulated by UGC and Government of India. 
5. Please Note: EWS (Economically Weaker Section) vacancies are tentative and subject to further direction/clarification of GOI and are subject to outcome of any litigation pending in the court of law. The candidates seeking reservation under EWS should fulfill the criteria as prescribed by Government of India. The benefit of reservation under EWS can be availed upon production of latest Income and Asset Certificate issued by a Competent Authority. 
6. SC/ST/OBC candidates should also attach true copy of Caste Certificate/Latest noncreamy layer certificate along with the application. Originals should be produced at the time of personal interview (if conducted in offline mode) or after actual selection at the time of joining (if conducted in online mode)

INTERVIEWS:- The names of the shortlisted candidates along with date and time for the interview will be displayed on the ICMR NIV and ICMR website in due course of time and also will be communicated to candidates via email in due course of time. Final selection of the candidate will be based on the performance in the online/offline personal interview. Mere fulfilling of the minimum requirements stipulated in the advertisement would not automatically entitle a candidate for selection. The decision of the Institute shall be final and binding in this regard. Canvassing in any form and/or bringing in any influence, political or otherwise will be treated as a disqualification.
