Applications for Project internship 

Invited Under PLEASE project (Government of Kerala) 

Title of the project: Phycoremediation of bio-industrial wastewaters using indigenous freshwater green algae of Kerala combined with biomass generation for food, feed and biofuel Internship opportunity 

1. Ten students (two batches of five each) will be eligible for an internship for six months of training in the utilisation of microalgae as an industrially valuable bioresource 

2. Each trainee will receive a remuneration of Rs. 10000 per month for six months 

3. Training will be in the collection, isolation, identification, and monoculture at laboratory and industrial scales of freshwater microalgae 

4. The trainees will have the opportunity to make use of photobioreactor systems and other techniques for the industrial trial of algae as a valuable bioresource 

5. The trainee should carry out an independent research task under the strict guidance and supervision of the trainers as entrusted by the investigators 

6. Working time will be 9 am to 5 pm for six days, including Saturdays, except for public holidays. 

7. Students who join the internship are expected to complete the training without fail. If they leave before completing the training, they need to refund the internship so far received and should enter into a written agreement to the effect. 

8. The trainees may be able to continue for the PhD program if otherwise eligible, and vacancies are available 

The essential qualification for consideration for an internship 

1. Post graduates with first class in MSc Botany/ Plant Sciences, Biotechnology, Microbiology, or Biochemistry can apply to the position in the plain paper, including their CV and attested copies of SSLC, +2 Certificate, B Sc and M Sc degree certificates and mark lists. 

2. Passing NET/GATE or other National/International level competitive exams will be considered a desirable qualification for selection. Please attach certificates for the same 

3. After the preliminary screening, the selected applicants will be called for an interview at the School of Biosciences
