WALK-IN INTERVIEW advertisement for Project Assistant openings as part of a project to be undertaken in the Centre for Climate and Environmental Studies at IISER Kolkata. 

Project Title: Mapping Biodiversity in the Upper Bhima Basin 

Funding Agency: The Nature Conservancy India 

Temporary position: Project Assistant 

Salary: Rs 28000 per month (consolidated) 

Qualifications: Master’s degree in Natural Science including in the areas of Environmental Science/Ecology/Zoology/Wildlife Biology and Conservation. 

Proven experience conducting field sampling in freshwater ecosystems as well as field experience in mapping of wildlife biodiversity would be welcome. 

Walk-in interview: 2nd January, 2024 

Venue of interview: IISER Kolkata, Salt Lake Campus, Kolkata-64; Time: 11 AM

Age Limit: Must not be over 35 years as on 2nd January, 2024 which can be relaxed for certain reserved categories as per rules of the Government of India. 

Relaxation in age, educational qualifications or experience may be considered in case of exceptionally meritorious candidates. 

Background of the project: Freshwater ecosystems in India play pivotal role in maintaining biodiversity, offering ecosystem services and overall well-being of human health. However, many freshwater ecosystems are reeling from multiple stress, many of which are anthropogenic in origin. To aid in the vision of Prioritisation of freshwater ecosystems of The Nature Conservancy India, a project on mapping biodiversity of the Upper Bhima Basin is to be undertaken using multifaceted approaches. The positions will be for five months.
