Applications are invited from the interested candidates for the post of JRF to work on the R&D project titled “Taxonomy, diversity and documentation of epiplastic microalgae isolates from habitats of lentic water for biodegradation of divergent domestic plastics” awarded by Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB), under Empowerment and Equity Opportunities for Excellence in Science (EMEQ), Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India, New Delhi. 

The project has been undertaken in the Centre for Advanced Studies in Botany, University of Madras, Guindy Campus, Chennai – 600025, Tamil Nadu. 

M.Sc., Botany/ Plant Biology and Biotechnology/ Applied Plant Science/Microbiology. 

 3 Years

 i) For the first two years Rs. 31,000 + 24% HRA and for the third year Rs. 35,000 +24% HRA for those (i) who have qualified CSIR-UGC NET including Lectureship or GATE or qualified through National Examination of Government Departments and Agencies. (ii) Rs. 25,000/- + 24% HRA for others who do not fall under the above category. 

Educational Qualification: M.Sc., in Botany / Plant Biology and Biotechnology/ Applied Plant Science/Microbiology with basic knowledge on Algology. 

Candidates must have at least 6.5/10 CGPA or 60 percent marks in aggregate from a recognized University or Institute as a Full-Time program. 

Proof of M.Sc., certificate has to be provided during the time of interview. 

Desirable: CSIR-NET/GATE qualified, Expertise in isolation identification and taxonomy of microalgae along with Microscope techniques. 

Age limit: 35 years (Age relaxation is given for SC/ST/OBC/Women and Physically handicapped candidates as per Government of India norms) 

Note:- The candidate selected for the position of JRF will have the option to register for PhD program at CAS in Botany, UNOM, Chennai. Interested candidates must apply with the following documents: (1) JRF Application form (2) CV with passport-sized photograph, (3) Scanned copies of educational certificates and mark sheets from class XII onwards (4) CSIR-NET or GATE qualified certificate and (5) Scanned copies of Proof for research experience, special achievements and publications, if any. The soft copies of all the above documents as single PDF with file name as “YOUR_NAME_JRF.pdf” must be emailed to the Principal Investigator (Dr.S. Nagaraj) on or before 26th January, 2024 with subject “Application for JRF” and hard copies of all the documents should be send to the address for correspondence given below on or before 26th January, 2024. The email address for correspondence is given below. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the written test/interview. The appointment will be on a purely temporary basis co-terminus with the project. Candidates who are already employed should produce relieving certificate from their employers, if selected. The shortlisted candidates with the date of interview will be intimated by email only.
