Call for Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position funded by SERB at the Dept. of Biological
Sciences, IISER Kolkata ( Application deadline 26. 05. 2024)
Project title: “Studying the impact of population fluctuation in microbial eco-evolutionary
process by combining theory and experiment”
A project-funded JRF position is available in the lab of Dr. Dipjyoti Das (IISER
Kolkata). The project involves the computational modeling of biological processes using the
tools of Statistical physics and Applied statistics. Collaboration with experimental groups and
data analysis can also be involved.

Remuneration: As per DST/SERB rules.
Tenure: 1 year from the date of joining (extension to next year may be possible
depending on the availability of fund and satisfactory performance)
Basic Eligibility Criteria: M.Sc/MS/ME/M.Tech or equivalent Master’s degree in
Physics (as major or honours subject) with minimum 55% marks, Qualification in
National eligibility exams (like JEST, GATE, NET-LS, etc.).
Additional experience: Strong analytical and mathematical skills and experience in
computer programming in languages like FORTRAN/C/C++.
Age limit: 30 years at the date of joining. Relaxation in Age and Academic
qualification will be considered for reserved categories as per Govt. of India rules.

Interview: The exact date and time of the interview will be notified in due time.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited via email for interview.
Mode of Interview: Online (A Google-Meet link will be shared with the short-listed
candidates before the interview). The interview will be recorded. The application
itself will be considered as the consent of the applicant to appear for the interview.
**Terms & Conditions: The decision of the selection committee will be final. The
selected candidate may be terminated with a 30-day notice before completion of
tenure, if their performance is deemed unsatisfactory. The requirements of minimum
qualification and/or experience and age may be relaxed in the case of reserved
category candidates and candidates with outstanding credentials.
