Requirement for Junior Research Fellow/Research Specialist – Gene Therapy

Applications are invited from interested candidates for immediate requirement to work as technical specialists (3 Positions) under projects to develop gene therapy vectors for inherited disorders. 

Name of the post: Research Specialist – Gene Therapy  

Duration: Initially for 3 years and can be extended. A minimum commitment of 3 years is necessary for these positions. 

Qualifications: M.Sc./M.Tech in any branch of biology or biotechnology. Bachelors degree holders with more than 5 years of relevant laboratory experience may also be considere 

Experience required: Candidates with prior laboratory experience in one or more of the following techniques is mandatory:

·         Mammalian cell culture, transfection, aseptic techniques

·         Plasmid production, bacterial culture, quality control

·         Molecular biology techniques including cloning, PCR, QPCR, etc.

·   Biochemistry techniques including protein isolation, immunoblotting, tissue staining techniques and microscopy.

·         Chromatography techniques including IEX, affinity, experience with AKTA.

·         Previous experience with viral vectors, cloning mammalian genes, bioreactor culture, animal handling and animal tissue experiments is preferred.

·         Experience with animal studies including mice or rabbits. 

The role: The post holders will be primarily responsible to perform different vector production related techniques under strictly aseptic conditions including cell culture, molecular biology, chromatography, vector transduction in vitro and in vivo (animal models), plasmid production, quality control, bio-banking and participate in all the laboratory activities. The post may require some travelling when required for experiments to be performed at core facilities. Opportunities for pursuing a PhD degree may be provided depending on performance and interest.

· A team player with excellent communication skills, including the ability to write scientific text and present data

· Experience of working in a research team and contributing ideas for new research projects.

Salary: Salary will be INR 48000 consolidated per month for first 6 months. Upon confirmation based on satisfactory performance, further increments will be offered.

Requirement for Post Doctoral Fellow or Senior Research Specialist – Gene Therapy 

2.   Applications are invited from interested candidates (2 Positions) for immediate requirement to work as Post Doctoral Fellow (applicants with PhD) or senior research specialist (applicants with M.Sc/M.Tech with 3+ years of relevant experience) under projects to develop gene therapy vectors. 

Duration: Initially for 3 years and can be extended. A minimum commitment of 3 years is necessary for these positions. 

Qualifications: PhD in any branch of biology or biotechnology, but with experience working on mammalian systems, human disease biology, therapies, etc.

For Senior Research Specialist, minimum of 3 years’ experience in molecular biology, gene construction/cloning, cell biology research is MANDATORY, experience in production and purification of viral vectors, experience with cGMP manufacturing will be preferred (experience in industry or academia are welcome). 

Experience required: Candidates with experience in three or more of the following techniques is mandatory:

·         Mammalian cell culture, transfection, aseptic techniques

·         Plasmid production, bacterial culture, quality control

·         Molecular biology techniques including cloning, PCR, QPCR, etc.

·   Biochemistry techniques including protein isolation, immunoblotting, tissue staining techniques and microscopy.

·         Chromatography techniques including IEX, affinity, experience with AKTA.

·         Previous experience with viral vectors, cloning mammalian genes, bioreactor culture, animal handling and animal tissue experiments is preferred.

·         Experience with cGMP processes 

The role: The post holders will be primarily responsible to perform different vector production related techniques including cell culture, vector designing, plasmid production, chromatography (affinity and ion-exchange) based purification, quality control, detailed documentation, in vitro and in vivo experiments, bio-banking and participate in all the laboratory activities. The post may require some travelling when required for experiments to be performed at core facilities.

Requirement forJunior Research Fellow/Research Specialist – Stem cells 

3. Applications are invited from interested candidates to work as a technical specialist (1 Position) under a project on induced pluripotent stem cells and their differentiation into various cell types. 

Name of the post: Research Specialist – Stem cells  

Duration: Initially for 3 years and can be extended. 

Qualifications: M.Sc. in Biological Sciences/Life Sciences/Bio medical Science 

Experience: Candidates with minimum two years of prior laboratory experience in mammalian cell culture and aseptic techniques is mandatory. Previous experience with stem cell work, managing own research and administrative activities is a plus. 

The role: The post holder will be primarily responsible to perform cellular reprogramming and iPSC generation, iPSC differentiation, in vivo animal studies, clinical sample processing and their bio-banking and participate in all the laboratory activities. Undertake other laboratory duties as responsibilities of this post. The post offers the opportunity to become proficient in the culture of fibroblasts, blood cell isolation and culture, vector production, cellular reprogramming and iPSC generation.
