Inviting applications for Project Position 
DATE: November 13, 2024 

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up the purely temporary position of one Research Associate II and one Field Worker in the DBT project entitled “Understanding how anatomical adaptations help root penetration in hard and dry soil”, of Dr. Jitender Giri, Scientist, NIPGR. The details of the positions are as under: 

Research Associate II 

61000/- plus 27% HRA per month as sanctioned in the project. 

Qualification: Candidates having doctorate (Ph.D) degree in Life Science or equivalent (including Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Plant Physiology) with a good publication record and fulfills the guidelines and norms of DST Office Memorandum number DST/PCPM/Z-06/2022 dated 26/06/2023 are eligible to apply. 

Essential: Candidates having prior experience in Genome-wide association mapping (GWAS), Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), and root phenotyping in plants is needed. The Candidate must have at least two first authors papers in repute journals.

Field Worker (one post): `. 18000/- plus 27% HRA per month as sanctioned in the project. 

Qualification: Candidates having Graduate degree in any discipline and fulfills the guidelines and norms of DST Office Memorandum number SR/S9/Z-05/2019 dated 10/07/2020 are eligible to apply. 

The upper age limit for the post of Field Worker is 50 years, as per DST guidelines. 

Essential: Candidates having prior experience in a research lab and working with chickpea/rice crops will be given preference. The above positions are completely on temporary basis and co-terminus with the project. The fellowship/emolument amount for the above positions is as sanctioned in the project and as per DBT/DST norms. 

The initial appointment will be for one year or till the tenability of the project whichever is earlier and the same can be curtailed/extended on the basis of assessment of the candidate's performance and discretion of the Competent Authority. NIPGR reserves the right to select the candidates against the above post depending upon the qualification and experience of the candidate. Reservation of post shall be as per Govt. of India norms. The appointment may be terminated any time by giving one month notice by either side. The applicants will have no claim implicit or explicit for consideration against any regular position of NIPGR.

A web-link with date and time of online interview will be e-mailed to the shortlisted candidates only. The candidates must ascertain their eligibility before applying, as ineligible candidates will not be interviewed. Note: ONLY soft copy of the application in the given format through e-mail will be accepted. No TA/DA will be paid for attending online interview.
