to lead innovative research while contributing to the academic development of the next generation of scientists. This role combines cutting-edge
research with teaching responsibilities, focusing on emerging trends such
as AI-driven biology, quantum computing, multi-omics integration, and
advanced biomanufacturing. The successful candidate will leverage computational expertise to address critical challenges in synthetic biology and
biomanufacturing and foster an interdisciplinary learning environment.
Key responsibilities:
• Conduct high-impact translational research using – classic computational methods strengthened by AI and quantum computing tools to
design molecules and pathways for health, food and environment applications (Integrate multi-omics data leading to virtual pathways and cells).
• Participate in grant writing and fundraising initiatives and teaching,
mentor students, postdoctoral researchers.
• Design and teach graduate-level courses in computation biology,
bioinformatics and system biology, using modern tools and concepts.
• Contributing to curriculum development for programmes in synthetic
biology and biomanufacturing, ensuring alignment with future industry and
research needs.
Qualifications and expertise:
• Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Systems Biology, Bioinformatics,
Synthetic Biology.
• Proficiency in computational tools (e.g. Cytoscape) and programing
languages like Python, R, or MATLAB, in modelling and optimizing
biological pathways.
• Familiarity with omics data integration (e.g. genomics, proteomics,
transcriptomics) and high-performance computing.
• Prior experience teaching computational biology or related courses at
the graduate or undergraduate level.
Application process:
• A cover letter outlining the research plan, and teaching statement in
alignment with the Centre’s goals.
• A detailed CV, including publication record and Contact details of
three professional references.
