Posts

Master’s Degree in Botany with 03 years’ experience in research and development

Master’s degree in Limnology/ Aquatic Ecology/ Hydrology/ Environmental Science/
Natural Resource Management/ Planning (with specialization in Environmental
Planning) or Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering with 07
years’ experience in the field of Environmental Pollution Control or Environmental
Impact Assessment or Management of Hazardous Substances or Management of
Biodiversity or Conservation and Survey.
OR
Doctorate degree in Limnology/ Aquatic Ecology/ Hydrology/ Environmental
Science/ Natural Resource Management/ Planning (with specialization in
Environmental Planning)/ Environmental Engineering with 04 years’ experience in
the field of Environmental Pollution Control or Environmental Impact Assessment or
Management of Hazardous Substances or Management of Biodiversity or
Conservation and Survey.
Duties and Job Requirements (1-2/B/MoEF&CC, 3/C/MoEF&CC and
4/D/MoEF&CC)
(a) Policy planning and coordination for environmental protection
(b) Impact Assessment techniques for implementation of the environmental
protection
(c) Pollution control techniques and pollution control data assessment and
interpretation for developing new techniques
(d) Developing of safety procedures for hazardous substances management
(e) Eco-regeneration, assistance to organizations implementing environmental and
forestry research, extension, education and training to augment the requisite
manpower, dissemination and creation of environmental awareness among all
sectors of the country’s population.

2. BOTANICAL SURVEY OF INDIA (BSI) – 22 Posts

number dated 07.12.2024. The candidates who had earlier applied in response to the Advertisement
dated 24.12.2022, including candidates who have become age-barred now, need not apply again as

experience in the field of taxonomy of Angiosperms/ Gymnosperms/ Pteridophytes/

Doctorate in Natural Science (Botany) or Agricultural Science.
Desirable Qualification:
(a) Knowledge of International Code or Botanical Nomenclature, and
(b) Knowledge of one or more of the foreign languages viz. Latin, German, French and

Duties and Job Requirements (For post No. 5-6/C/BSI and 7/C/BSI)
To identify plants. To prepare scientific reports on field of herbarium specimens. To
undertake field excursions. To supervise the work of Scientific Assistant and
Technical Assistant. Identification of specimens in Regional/National Herbaria
preparation of Floristic accounts of the collections of Angiosperms, Algae,
Bryophytes, Pteridophytes, Gymnosperms, Fungi, Lichens, Supervision of the work
of Scientific Assistant and help and assistance to the Officer-in-charge of the office
and any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
(C) Eighteen (18) Posts of Scientist – ‘D’ in Level 12 of Pay Matrix of Rs. 78800-

Essential Educational Qualification and Experience:
Master’s Degree in Natural Science (Botany) with 7 years’ experience in taxonomy
of any of the following group of plants:
Angiosperms/Gymnosperms/ Pteridophytes/ Bryophytes/ Algae/ Lichens/ Fungi
OR
Doctorate degree in Natural Science (Botany) with 4 years’ experience in
taxonomy of any of the following group of plants:
Angiosperms/Gymnosperms/ Pteridophytes/ Bryophytes/ Algae/ Lichens/ Fungi.
Desirable Qualification:
(a) Respective qualifications and experience in taxonomy of any one of the
following fields: Angiosperms, Algae, Fungi, Lichens or Bryophytes.
(b) Knowledge of International Code or Botanical Nomenclature, and

Job Requirements (For post No. 8-25/D/BSI):
(a) To assist the Director, BSI in all scientific and administrative matters and any
other duties assigned from time to time for the respective positions.
(b) Survey of Indian Flora and research; maintenance and upkeep of herbaria and
musea. To identify plants. To prepare proper scientific reports on field or
herbarium specimens. To undertake field excursions. To supervise the work of
Scientists, Scientific Assistants and Technical Assistant.
(c) Revisionary monographic studies on flora; development and execution of
Scientific programmes of various gardens and Orchidaira.
(d) Guide, direct and supervise research work.

Institute with minimum 21 years of experience in floristic survey / research;

Doctorate Degree in Natural Science (Botany) from a recognized University /
Institute with minimum 18 years of experience in floristic survey / research.
Desirable Qualifications
(a) Knowledge of International Code of plant nomenclature.
(b) Knowledge of one or more of the following foreign languages i.e. Latin, German,
French and Russian
(c) Administrative experience in research Department.
Area of Experience - Taxonomy
Duties And
Job Requirements (For post No. 26/G/BSI) –
(a) Advise Government of India on Botanical matters,
(b) Research in taxonomy of all types of flora,
(c) to guide, direct and supervise research work, floristic survey, taxonomy and
maintenance of Botanical Galleries of the Industrial Section, Indian Museum,
(d) Administration of the Headquarter Office of Botanical Survey of India at Kolkata
and its Regional Centres in different parts of the country,
(e) Will have to function as Director, Botanical Survey of India,
(f) Discharge the duties of the Head of the Department of Botanical Survey of India.

Essential Educational Qualification
Master’s Degree in Zoology from a recognized University/Institute with 03 years of
experience in research in an academic institution or scientific and technological
organization in the relevant field after possessing the minimum qualifications
required for the post with special reference to Systematics, Morphology and Ecology
of animals.
OR
Doctorate in Zoology from a recognized University/Institute.
Desirable Qualifications
(a) Knowledge of International Code of Zoological Nomenclature;
(b) Working knowledge of any of the foreign languages – Latin, German, French
and Russian;
(c) Experience of conducting field surveys and guiding research.
Area of Experience

(a) Research on Taxonomy, Morphology, Ecology and Zoo-Geography of animals
under his/her charge
(b) Supervision and co-ordination of work in different scientific sections under the
respective Divisions
(c) Helping the Director in administrative matters.

4. NATIONAL MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY (NMNH) – 02 Posts

Essential Educational Qualification
1. Master’s Degree in Botany or Zoology or Geology or Bio-Science or Life Science
or Environmental Science or Wildlife Biology from a recognized
University/Institute; and
2. (i). Diploma or certificate course in Museology of a duration of not less than
one year;
OR
(ii). Two years’ experience of working in a State or National Museum preferably
in the Natural History Sections.
Duties and Job Requirements (For post No. 32-33/B/NMNH)
(a) Curatorial responsibilities related with development and management of natural
history collections, exhibitions and related educational and extension services.
(b) Planning, development and organization of museum collections, exhibitions and
educational programmes.
(c) Planning, development and execution of thematic exhibits of permanent and
temporary nature.
(d) Maintenance and documentation of reserve collection and exhibits.

AGE
- 50 Years for the post of Scientist ‘G’
- 40 years for the post of Scientist ‘D’
- 35 years for the post of Scientist ‘C’ and Scientist ‘B’
The age limit is relaxable by 5 years in case of candidates belonging to Scheduled
Castes and Scheduled Tribes and by 3 years in case of candidates belonging to
Other Backward Classes (OBCs). The age limit is also relaxable by five years for
Government servants in accordance with the orders issued by the Central
Government from time to time.
