Walk-in-interview for the selection of following temporary posts at ICAR-NIVEDI, Ramagondanahalli, Yelahanka, Bengaluru-560064 under various time bound Ad-hoc projects/schemes will be held on 03.04.2025 and 04.04.2025. 

All desirous and eligible candidates fulfilling criteria are invited to attend the walk-in-interview on 03.04.2025 and 04.04.2025 at 9:00 AM. Details of posts, age limit, educational qualification etc. are as indicated below: - 

Title of the Project/scheme: “PPR-EP: Action Plan for surveillance and monitoring of PPR” Project under LH&DCP Scheme [PI: Dr. V. Balamurugan, Principal Scientist]

1. Young Professional-I (One position) 

Graduate in Science (Biotechnology/ Microbiology/Biochemistry or its equivalent) OR Diploma holders in Agricultural Sciences/Engineering/Technology 

Experience in basic laboratory techniques, preparing reagents, handling the transported samples, performing screening tests, cataloguing and storing samples. Basic computer skills (excel, word, PPT) data analysis Computer skills using Microsoft Office required Knowledge of scientific terminology is desirable Experience in tracking entries from data set. 

Nature of Work Assist in sample testing, media and reagent preparation, sample processing, and maintenance. Handle sample storage, equipment upkeep, lab cleanliness, and waste disposal. Perform data entry, validation, compilation, and analysis; prepare reports for ELISA-screened samples. Maintain surveillance and monitoring data, ensuring proper storage, upload to LH&DCP and National Database, and device upkeep. Coordinate lab operations and support project staff and PI. Actively contribute to ongoing project work. 

Rs. 30,000/- per month (Consolidated)

Title of the Project/scheme: “Advanced Diagnostic and Omics Strategies for Surveillance and Characterization of Leptospira Carriers in Livestock and Their Environments” under DHR-ICMR-National One Health Mission (NOHM) Funded Project [PI: Dr. V.Balamurugan, Principal Scientist] 

3. Project Research Scientist-III (Non-Medical) (One Position) 

Post Graduate Degree, including the integrated PG degrees, with five years’ post qualification experience or PhD + two years post qualification experience in Life sciences (Microbiology/Biotechnology/other related fields) or its equivalent 

• After PhD, 4-5 years experience in an R&D lab, preferably with postdoctoral research experience. 
• Experience in handling Leptospira culture and other zoonotic pathogen 
• Proficiency in metagenomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics for Zoonotic pathogen characterization (Leptospira). 
• Experience in One Health approaches, zoonotic disease surveillance, outbreak investigations, and epidemiology in livestock and environmental samples. 
• Expertise in developing and validating diagnostic assays (PCR, qPCR, ELISA, serology) for infectious disease surveillance (Leptospirosis/Bacterial Zoonosis). 
• Experience in handling, infecting, and sampling animal models (hamsters, mice) with knowledge of IAEC guidelines. 
• Managing multidisciplinary research teams and coordinating large-scale studies. 
• Experience working with veterinary epidemiologists, field veterinarians, and public health agencies. 
• Familiarity with spatial epidemiology and GIS-based surveillance. 
• Quite a number of publications on zoonotic diseases (Leptospirosis), with a good impact factor in NAAS and Thomson Reuters-indexed journals. 

Nature of Work Oversee multi-omics approaches (metagenomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics) for Leptospira surveillance in livestock and the environment. Supervise multi-omics data integration to identify Leptospira diversity, biomarkers, and risk factors. Ensure quality control and standardization of sample collection, processing, and analysis. Lead bioinformatics workflows for genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and metabolomic analysis. Coordinate animal model experiments (hamsters and mice) with adherence to ethical standards. Collaborate with veterinarians, epidemiologists, and public health authorities for real-world applications. Guide Project Research Scientists - I in experiments, data validation, and troubleshooting. 
Prepare scientific reports, manuscripts, and conference presentations. 
Assist the Principal/Co-Investigator in project tracking, compliance, and administrative reporting.

4. Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical) (Two Positions) 

Post Graduate Degree, including the integrated PG degrees in Life sciences (Microbiology/Biotechnology/other related fields) or its equivalent 

• Minimum 2-4 years experience in an R&D lab. 
• NET (CSIR-UGC NET, GATE, or any national level examination by DST, DBT, ICAR, ICMR, etc 
• Experience in DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, sequencing, ELISA, Microscopic Agglutination Test (MAT) 
• Basic training bioinformatics (omics) 
• Experience handling zoonotic pathogens and culture techniques (Leptospira). 
• Sample processing, transport, and cataloging. 
• Animal experiment: Sample preparation for infection studies (hamsters/mice) and IAEC compliance. 
• Experience in developing and validating diagnostic assays Quite a number of publications, with a good impact factor in NAAS and Thomson Reuters-indexed journals. 

Nature of Work Collect, process, and preserve samples from livestock, the environment, and animal models per SOPs. Perform DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, sequencing (Nanopore, Illumina), qPCR, and bioinformatics analysis. Prepare samples for transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics experiments. Conduct serological and molecular detection of leptospirosis and standardize diagnostic assays (ELISA, PCR, culture). Maintain lab equipment, reagent inventory, and ensure biosafety compliance. Support fieldwork, including risk assessment, epidemiological data collection, and surveillance. Manage sample transportation, storage, cataloging, and database entry. Analyze data for biomarker identification and disease trends. Assist in research reports, project documentation, and regulatory submissions.

Shivachandra, Principal Scientist] 

5. Project Research Scientist-1 (Non-Medical) (One position) 

1. Post graduate degree (Biochemistry/Microbiology/Biot echnology/life sciences), including the integrated PG degrees 
2. For engineering/IT/CS- Four years graduate degree 

• Microbiological (Virological/Bacteriological) techniques: handling of biosafety /risk pathogens/sera samples 
• Molecular techniques; Gene cloning, expression, & purification of recombinant proteins, functional studies/characterization 
• Handling of automated chromatography systems (affinity and size exclusion chromatography, AktaStart, AktaPure, etc) 
• Proficiency in Bioinformatic tools, gene/protein analysis, protein modelling, docking, QGIS, R, Mapping, etc., • Raising hyperimmune sera/polyclonal/ monoclonal antibodies in laboratory animals (rabbit, guinea pig, mice) • Performing & standardization of immuno-diagnostic assays like ELISA, dot blot/ LFA/ agglutination assays • Statistical data analysis, compilation & reporting Preference for PhD holders with 2-3 peer reviewed high impact research publications.

8. Project Research Scientist-1 (Non-Medical) (One position) 

Post Graduate Degree (Biotechnology/Biochemistry/Microbiol ogy/Bio-informatics/Data Science/Veterinary Public Health and Epidemiology/Life Sciences) including the integrated PG degrees Experience in molecular techniques such as PCR, QPCR, cloning, NGS etc. Experience in analysis of NGS data and performing phylogenetic analysis. 

1. Candidates with experience of working in One health projects will be preferred 
2. Candidates with PhD in relevant subject
