The Institute for Stem Cell Science & Regenerative Medicine (www.instem.res.in), Bangalore is an
autonomous institute under the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology,
Government of India. BRIC-inStem’s mandate is to establish collaborative research programs in the field
of stem cell biology, regeneration, and repair in development and disease, with an emphasis on translation.
To develop strengths in focused areas, research at BRIC-inStem is driven through collaborative
interdisciplinary teams, addressing questions that are beyond the scope of a single laboratory.

The Institute for Stem Cell Science and Regenerative Medicine (inStem), is a premier research center
located in Bengaluru. Dr. Barun Mahata is a recently joined faculty member at inStem. His research
focuses on development of next generation technologies to interrogate and perturb mammalian
epigenome, transcriptome and epitranscriptome in a programmable and predictable manner using cuttingedge molecular biology and synthetic biology approach.

Tenure: Contractual appointment for 11 Eleven months, renewable based on requirement and review
of progress and requirement of the Grant.
