Admission to the Ph.D. Program for the 2026-27 (Winter Session)
1. Applications are invited for the BRIC - THSTI - JNU Ph.D. Program. Candidates from Medical
Sciences, Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Mathematics and
Information Sciences are eligible to apply.
2. THSTI is committed to conducting innovative translational research and developing
research collaborations across disciplines and professions to translate concepts into
products to improve human health.
3. THSTI has established various centres namely:
• Centre for Maternal and Child Health
• Centre for Viral Therapeutics and Vaccines
• Centre for Tuberculosis Research
• Centre for Microbial Research
• Centre for Immunobiology and Immunotherapy
• Centre for Drug Discovery
• Clinical Development Services Agency
• Computational and Mathematical Biology Centre
• Centre for Bio-design and Diagnostics
These centres are strengthened by many core facilities namely:
• Bioassay Laboratory
• Biorepository
• Biosafety Level - 3 Lab
• Data Management Centre
• Immunology Core Laboratory
• Multi-OMICS Facility
• Experimental Animal Facility
• Vaccine Design and Development Facility
4. Minimum Eligibility Criteria:
For Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences and Information
Sciences Domain:
Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) of UGC, CSIR, ICMR or DBT
OR
Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) of 3 years which should be extendable for 2 more years for
pursuing Ph.D.
For Mathematics Domain:
Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) of UGC, CSIR, ICMR, DBT, NBHM, GATE or UGC (Category -
II/ III)
OR
Senior Research Fellowship of 3 years which should be extendable for 2 more years for
pursuing Ph.D.
Note: The validity for activation of the fellowship shall be for a period of at least 4 months from
the last date of receipt of application.
For Medical Sciences:
Should have MBBS/ BDS/ BAMS/ BHMS/ MD/ MDS/ MPH or its equivalent from a recognized
university/institute with at least 55% marks or its equivalent
5. Selection Procedure:
i. The shortlisted candidates will be called directly for the interview. The list of selected
candidates will be published on the THSTI’s website.
ii. Selection will be made based on the applicant’s performance in the interview. The
interview will take place at THSTI, NCR - BSC, 3rd Milestone, Faridabad - Gurgaon
Expressway, Faridabad - 121001.
iii. No. of seats: 10 (UR: 4; OBC: 2; SC: 1; ST: 2; EWS:
1)
Note - 1: Those who have obtained fellowship under OBC/ SC/ ST category will be entitled to fill
up OBC/ SC/ ST seats respectively. Such candidates must upload their scorecard while filling out
the online application form. In case the scorecard is not made available by the exam conducting
agency at the time of form submission, it must be produced at the time of the interview.
Note - 2: The number of vacancies that are actually filled up may be less than the notified number
of seats if sufficient suitable candidates are not found.
6. General Terms & Conditions:
i. Candidates appearing in the final examination of their Master’s degree may also apply.
However, the result must be declared and the final mark sheet must be produced at the
time of the Ph.D. interview.
ii. Reservation policy will be followed as per Government of India norms. SC/ ST/ OBC
candidates are required to submit the certificates in respect of their claims from the
authorized officers as notified by the Government of India for the purpose from time to
time.
iii. The Ph.D. Program at THSTI is governed by JNU rules. For further details, please visit
www.jnu.ac.in
iv. Selected students will have to undergo Ph.D. course work for 2 semesters. Those having
successfully completed the Ph.D. course work requirement will be recommended to JNU
for Ph.D. registration. For the award of the doctoral degree, the candidate will have to
complete all the requirements as per the JNU rules.
v. Admission fees, annual fees, registration fees or any other fees levied by JNU shall be
payable by the student.
vi. Selected students will have the option of shared hostel accommodation in lieu of their
HRA.
7. How to Apply:
i. Documents to be kept handy before filling up the online application
(all the documents except (a) should be in pdf format)
a) A soft copy of your passport size photo and signature (jpeg/ jpg/ png format)
b) A comprehensive CV containing details of qualification/ distinctions, etc.
c) Matriculation certificate (equivalent to 10th Standard)/ Mark sheet
d) Intermediate certificate (equivalent to 12th Standard)/ Mark sheet
e) Graduation/ Diploma degree certificate/ Mark sheet
f) Post-Graduation degree certificate and Mark sheet (if applicable)
g) Copy of Fellowship Award Letter and Score Card
h) Caste / Disability certificate in the format prescribed by the Govt. of India, if applicable
ii. Procedure for filling up online application:
a) The eligible and interested candidates may apply online at the Institute’s website
https://thsti.res.in/en/Jobs. Applications through any other mode will not be accepted.
b) The following will be the step wise procedure:

Step 3: Payment of application fee
• The payment can be made by using Debit Card/ Credit Card/ Internet Banking/ UPI.
• Once payment is made, no correction/ modification is possible.
• Candidates are requested to keep a copy of the provisional receipt for future
reference.
• Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances.

Step 4 : Submission of application form
c) On successful submission of application, an auto-generated email containing the
reference number will be sent to the email address provided. Please keep a note of the
reference number for future correspondence.
d) Candidates are required to keep a printout of the online application form by using the
print button on the dashboard for future reference.
iii. Candidates must ensure that he/ she fulfils all the eligibility criteria as stipulated in the
advertisement. If it is found that he/ she does not fulfil the stipulated criteria during the
admission process, the candidature of the candidate will be cancelled. If the same is
noticed after the appointment, the candidate will be terminated following due process.
iv. Incomplete applications shall be summarily rejected and no correspondence in this
regard shall be entertained.
v. In case of difficulty in filling up the online form, please send e-mail to
